The Avalon Hybrid Limited is the top-tier 2022 Toyota Avalon. True Car says the 2.5L inline-four-cylinder powered Hybrid Limited starts at $45,245, with a market average of $45,692. That might seem steep for a Toyota sedan, but the Avalon punches well above its badge. The Limited trims offer decadent creature comforts like wireless phone charging, ventilated leather seats, and mood lighting. However, a fully-loaded 2022 Toyota Avalon Limited will feature sharp tech like intelligent clearance sonar and bird’s eye view camera technology.

Furthermore, potential owners who opt for a fully loaded Hybrid Limited will have much higher fuel efficiency figures than the 3.5L V6-powered Limited and Touring trim levels. The Hybrid Limited returns Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimated economy figures around 43 mpg in both the city and highway. However, if you want the more potent 301-horsepower V6, you’ll pay for it at the pump with figures closer to 22 mpg city and 31 highway.  

Is a 2022 Toyota Avalon worth it?

The 2022 Toyota Avalon has a lot to offer and fills a gap between affordable luxury cars like the Chrysler 300 and expensive European options like the Audi A6. First, the Avalon offers hybrid and AWD, whereas the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger don’t have a hybrid option. However, a comparable Nissan Maxima offers neither a hybrid nor AWD. 

Also, the Avalon has a library of standard features and optional features that would almost always reside in more premium marque’s offerings.

However, with top trims approaching luxury automaker territory, potential owners might want to consider more prestigious alternatives. Of course, Toyota is a name synonymous with reliability and dependability, whereas some European choices might lack in longevity. 

Is Toyota discontinuing the Avalon?

Unfortunately for fans of Toyota’s flagship large sedan, the marque is discontinuing the Avalon after the 2022 model year. Don’t fret, though; Toyota has been producing the Avalon for well over 20 years, and the used car market has options. For instance, Kelley Blue Book (KBB) says you can snag a 2017 Toyota Avalon for around $24,312. It’s not just the Toyota Avalon, either; the Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300, two other full-size sedans, are getting the axe soon. 

Should you consider an Avalon?

If you want a subtle, affordable luxury car with optional AWD and hybrid efficiency, the 2022 Toyota Avalon is a sensible choice. However, TrueCar asserts that a fully-loaded Toyota Avalon might be too expensive; it’s pushing premium European and Lexus price points. Still, a well-equipped lower-trim like the Hybrid XLE could be a proper luxury bargain.
