The GMC Hummer EV SUV followed the GMC Hummer EV Pickup, expanding the new Hummer lineup of electric trucks. It’s a stunning EV that’s extreme in every way, from aesthetics to performance. It’s an EV with higher EPA-estimated fuel costs than many hybrids with gas engines, but we don’t think people are buying a Hummer for frugal reasons. Speaking of frugality, a fully loaded 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV has a high sticker price.
Let’s look at the model range of the GMC Hummer EV SUV. We’ll also examine what you can expect to pay for a fully loaded example.
What does the GMC Hummer EV SUV cost?
The GMC Hummer EV SUV has a starting MSRP of $96,550 plus a substantial destination fee of $2,295. That gets you the base 2X trim. The standard dual-motor electric powertrain with an electronic four-wheel drive system. According to GM, this powertrain produces 625 horsepower and a whopping 7,400 lb-ft of torque. It achieves an EPA-estimated range of 303 miles on a full charge, and DC Fast Charging comes standard.
Standard features in the 2X model include an adaptive air ride suspension system, the CrabWalk electronic four-wheel steering system, the Super Cruise hands-free semi-autonomous driving system, an Infinity Roof with removable Sky Panels, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, a wireless charging pad, and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster.
The standard infotainment system has a 13.4-inch touchscreen, a Google operating system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a Bose CenterPoint 14-speaker audio system.
You can add several desirable option packages to the Hummer EV 2X SUV. Our favorite is the Extreme Off-Road Package for $9,995. It brings driver-selectable electronically-locking front and rear differentials, skid plates, 18-inch black wheels with Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires, underbody cameras, a rear D-ring recovery hook, and rocker protectors with assist steps. The Bronze Beadlock Package costs $4,775 and adds Tech Bronze exterior accents and Tech Bronze 18-inch beadlock-capable wheels. There’s also a Sport Package for $1,345, which is a questionable value. It only adds red emblems and D-rings, sport pedal covers, and splash guards.
How much is a fully loaded 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV?
The pricier 3X trim of the GMC Hummer EV SUV has a starting MSRP of $104,650. However, options can push that price much higher. There’s an Omega Edition that also requires adding the Extreme Off-Road Package. When combined, the price shoots up $32,855. The Omega Edition has Neptune Blue matte paint, transparent Sky Panels, black emblems, 18-inch gloss black beadlock wheels with carbon flash decorative rings, a black wheel center cap, and premium carpet insert floor mats.
Another nice perk of the 3X trim is an improved powertrain with 830 horsepower and 11,500 lb-ft of torque. Its estimated range is 314 miles.
The total cost of a loaded GMC Hummer EV SUV comes to $143,185 when adding the Illumination Package and Cargo Utility Package. That includes the $2,295 destination fee.
Is it worth it?
The GMC Hummer EV SUV is expensive, no matter how it’s configured. Because of its high starting price and even higher cost when fully loaded, the Rivian R1S is generally a better value. The R1S starts at $78,000, comes with three-row seating, and is available with stunning performance similar to the Hummer,
That said, there’s nothing else quite like the Hummer EV. The Rivian might be a more logical choice, but it arguably lacks the cool factor of the Hummer, which is worth a good chunk of change to the right buyer.
