The 2022 Nissan Titan XD is a serious truck, though comfortable. What does the Titan XD have that other large pickup trucks don’t, and is it worth its price tag? Speaking of price, just how much does the 2022 Nissan Titan XD cost?

How much is the 2022 Nissan Titan XD?

The 2022 Nissan Titan XD starts at an estimated $48,000. It’s a heavy-duty pickup truck, though Car and Driver calls it a “sort-of” heavy-duty pickup truck. That’s because it can’t quite compete with other heavy-duty pickup trucks, no matter how much Nissan wants it to. It’s kind of like the regular old Titan, though as the name suggests, it’s a more hardcore truck that can tow and haul more. Yet it still isn’t as efficient as competitors the 2022 Ford F-150 or 2022 Chevy Silverado HD.

The 2022 Nissan Titan XD comes with a 5.6-liter V8 engine that makes 400 hp and has a crew cab. It does offer two packages: the SV Convenience package and the Pro-4X Convenience package, each adding a little extra to the Titan XD.

The Titan XD’s towing capacity is lackluster

You might expect that a heavy-duty pickup truck would be able to tow a lot, but that isn’t the case with the 2022 Nissan Titan XD. No, this particular Nissan truck can only tow 11,040 pounds. That’s not a lot, especially when compared to the giants in the heavy-duty truck class. The 2022 Ford Super Duty can tow up to 37,000 pounds, according to Car and Driver. In addition, the Chevy Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 can tow more, at 12,000 pounds each. That might leave you wondering what the draw is for the Nissan Titan XD.

The XD’s interior is “uninspired”

To make matters worse for the 2022 Nissan Titan XD, Car and Driver says that its interior is “practical but uninspired” and that it “doesn’t stand out.” Considering the fact that the Titan XD also can’t tow very much and you’re left without a whole lot of compelling reasons to consider buying the Titan XD.

Still, there is a Platinum Reserve trim level on the Nissan Titan XD that makes things a little bit more enticing. The price for this trim level is going to be about $65,000, making it the most expensive 2022 Titan XD. This offers a two-tone interior and wood accents. It also has Zero Gravity seats, which are pretty attractive, even if they’re not quite worth investing in this monster of a pickup truck. Taking as a whole, the Titan XD’s interior is nice enough to make you comfortable in it, but maybe not interested enough to buy it.

The 2022 Nissan Titan XD is Nissan’s heavy-duty offering, but it feels more like a cursory option than a true attempt at making a serious heavy-duty truck. If you’re looking for something that you can take to work or use to regularly tow heavy things, you’ll probably want to look elsewhere. If, however, you just need a larger pickup truck for occasional moderate towing use, then the 2022 Nissan Titan XD might be right up your alley.
