There isn’t a whole lot known yet about the 2023 Subaru Solterra. It’s Subaru’s first fully electric SUV, and although it’s been compared to the Subaru Forester, it’s somewhat different. What the Solterra is similar to is the Toyota bZ4x, and that’s with good reason. Both new electric SUVs are built on a shared platform that has resulted in two strikingly similar vehicles. Yet more is known about the bZ4x, and we’re left wondering about the Solterra. Perhaps one of the biggest questions is, what will the 2023 Subaru Solterra price be? Let’s take a look at what we know and see if we can narrow down its potential price range.

What will the 2023 Subaru Solterra price be?

Right now there’s reason to believe that the 2023 Subaru Solterra will cost somewhere around $35,000 brand new. That’s according to Edmunds, who says there’s little else known about the 2023 Subaru Solterra, which was only just announced in mid-2021.

Edmunds expects that the 2023 Subaru Solterra will be approximately as big as the Subaru Forester, and smaller than the Subaru Outback. The Subaru Solterra will also have all-wheel drive.

What is the range of the Subaru Solterra?

The range of the 2023 Subaru Solterra hasn’t been officially announced, but it’s likely to be somewhere around at least 250 miles per full charge. That’s the number that will make the 2023 Subaru Solterra competitive with other similarly-sized electric SUVs. The most obvious competitor to the Subaru Solterra – or is it an ally? – is the 2022 Toyota bZ4x.

Other potential competitors of the 2023 Subaru Solterra include the Chevy Bolt EUV (which can go 247 miles on a single charge), the Ford Mustang Mach-E (at 305 miles per charge), and the Volkswagen ID.4 (249 miles).

The Subaru Solterra vs the Toyota bZ4x: which will win?

How Much Does a Fully Loaded 2022 Toyota bZ4x Cost?

It’s hard to say whether the 2023 Subaru Solterra or the 2022 Toyota bZ4x will prove to be the better electric SUV. It’s entirely possible that they will each fit in a different niche, and have little reason to steal from one another’s customer base. Yet they share a platform, since Subaru and Toyota have teamed up to develop these SUVs. They look startingly alike. And in an emerging field of electric SUVs, it’s likely that people will find themselves torn between the Solterra and the bZ4x.

The Toyota bZ4x price hasn’t been released either, but it’s likely to be similar to the Subaru Solterra, at somewhere around $37,000. There will be three trims available, with the base model being the 2022 Toyota bZ4x LE. This model will come standard with a front-wheel drive, single motor engine. The 2022 Toyota bZ4x range should be about 230 miles on a single charge. This comes from a 64.0 kWh battery.

We’ll have to wait and see what the 2023 Subaru Solterra price will be, and what other details Subaru chooses to announce as time goes on. Right now we know so little, yet what we do know is promising. If people can get even more electric SUV choices, it’s likely that the electric vehicle market will explode, and we’ll be able to drive an electric version of nearly everything out there.
