Jeep has a new family of engines in the work, and they’re rumored to be even more powerful than many V8s out there. In a leak followed by some observations on the Jeep Grand Wagoneer configurator, it’s been made public that the new Hurricane engines will keep the internal combustion engine-half of Stellantis powerfully equipped for at least the next few years to come.

How much is Jeep’s new engine?

The Hurricane engine is on its way, and it should cost about $2,000 to upgrade to it on the Grand Wagoneer. This is on top of the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer‘s starting price of $87,995. It’s the first inline-6 engine from Jeep since 2006. Back then the Jeep’s 4.0-liter inline-6 engine was discontinued. This new motor is rumored to be called the Tornado.

This new engine is part of Stellantis’ new suite of engines, though there isn’t a lot of information about what the other engines will include. This one is a gas-powered Hurricane twin-turbo inline-6. While the 3.0-liter engine isn’t a V8, it’s designed to match the output of a V8, meaning if you opt for the new engine upgrade, you won’t lose any power. In fact, this new engine is more powerful while at the same time environmentally friendly. It makes more than 400 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque, according to Motor1. There’s a high-output variant as well which can make more than 500 hp and 575 lb-ft of torque.

When will Stellantis’ new engines be available?

The new Jeep engine will be officially unveiled at the 2022 New York International Auto Show from April 15-24. If you’re excited about the possibility of a more powerful engine without the need for a V8 engine, you might want to pay attention to what Jeep is putting out over the next several months. With Jeep’s new inline-6 engine making its debut by the end of 2022, you may have the possibility to get the inline-6 in any number of Jeep vehicles.

How much is the Grand Wagoneer?

The 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer price starts at $86,995. That’s the bottom of the MSRP range, which goes up to $103,995. The 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer comes with a 6.4-liter V8 engine that makes 471 hp and 455 lb-ft of torque. This is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive. The Jeep Wagoneer, meanwhile, has a 5.7-liter V8 engine that makes 392 hp. However, the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer only gets 13 mpg in the city and 18 mpg on the highway for a combined 15 mpg. The Hurricane engine would obviously be a more powerful upgrade.

The 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Series II starts at $95,440 and has the same engine as the Series I. Both Grand Wagoneers can tow up to 9,850 pounds. They both come with ambient interior lighting, door handle approach lamps, and LED foglamps. The 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Obsidian starts at $100,440. The 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Series III is the nicest new Grand Wagoneer you can buy, and it will cost you at least $104,845.

If you want a more powerful Jeep engine, you might want to consider the Jeep Hurricane engine. With its impressive output and ability to be compatible with a hybrid or electric engine, something like the Stellantis engine just may be the engine of the future.
