Vaguely ranging the expected MSRP to be below $70,000 and even below $60,000, has most industry critics interpreting that to mean the Cadillac Lyriq will most likely cost around $50,000.

What others are estimating the Cadillac Lyriq will cost

Others are starting to weigh in about pricing expectations for the Cadillac Lyriq. And the opinions vary. Car and Driver shared sentiments following the General Motors president’s official comments. They think that Ultium battery technology may juice up the price tag another $20,000. But it’s hard to say what actual costs will look like upon arrival with any official certainty.

Car and Driver points out that the Cadillac Lyriq will need to keep in mind that state incentives offered to EV buyers in California and New York, but it will only apply to vehicles at or below the $60,000. So, hopefully, GM can launch the Lyriq at least in that range or lower.

What the Cadillac Lyriq is bringing to the table

The Cadillac Lyriq will be the Cadillac brand’s first all-electric model. And in keeping with its ‘go big or go home’ reputation, this SUV will be capable of cruising more than 300 miles with each charge. There will also be a Super Cruise system, and the reports predict hands-free driving capabilities for up to 90% of the time. The battery system is the Ultium scalable battery that cranks out 50 KwH to 200 KwH of power. The Lyriq will recharge with Level 1 or Level 2 AC tech or DC fast-charging. Rear-wheel drive will come standard, but all-wheel drive will also be an optional drivetrain option.

A long pause before you can buy

According to the GM president, Cadillac will be taking its time to get things right before introducing the Lyriq. It will be late 2022 before this SUV goes into production and 2023 to see the EVs hit the showroom floor. Officials say the automaker is focused on not just developing a strong EV contender. It’s equally important that consumers are ready for this new vehicle and an entire ecosystem of support ready.

Fans are excited to meet the Cadillac Lyriq. And for now, it sounds like the automaker is prepared to price it within luxury ranges. Even if the MSRP reaches $60,000, it would still be less expensive than other EV rivals already on the market, including the Tesla Model X, Audi e-tron, and the Jaguar I-Pace. But fans will still have to wait patiently, and for quite a while before getting their hands on this game-changing Cadillac Lyriq.
