You’re ready to buy your new Chevy Silverado, but when you visit some of your local dealerships, there aren’t any. There are some white fleet trucks in the back lot, but you wanted one in blue with a diesel and upgraded interior. What are you to do? The way to get around this lack of new truck inventories is to order online. Yeah, you might have to wait a few weeks (or a few months depending on what you want), but you’ll get exactly what you want, what all of the charges will be, and a confirmation. 

How to start your Silverado order

So how do you go about ordering a Silverado online? You can start with the Silverado online configurator, which just went up in March 2022. Then, find the dealership you’ve selected and fill out its order form. If you have questions about certain options or equipment, you can call the dealer or ask your questions online. This way you get the colors, specs, configurations, features, and everything else the way you want it. 

If you need to finance your dream Silverado, dealerships have finance forms as well. Fill it out and click “send.” If you have questions or concerns about the rates or length of terms, dealerships have finance teams that can steer you into the right loan. 

How long will it take to get your custom-order Silverado?

With all of this set up, the next thing is when you can expect to take delivery of your new truck? The waiting periods vary depending on models, options, etc. Typically, GM wants six to eight weeks to process the order, schedule the build, then transport it to your local dealership. Wait periods could take up to three months or a bit more, but not usually. 

If leasing suits you better, GM has special leasing packages for the Silverado this month (March 2022). You can slide into a crew cab short bed Silverado 1500 LT with the 2.7-liter four-cylinder for $329 a month for 24 months. You’ll need to pay $5,229 at the time of the lease signing, with no security deposit required. Chevy also has lease specials for Silverado 2500 and 3500 heavy-duty trucks.

Right now, base model 2022 Silverado 1500 pickups with a regular cab start at a tad over $30,000. Moving up to the double cab, the base price is $34,300, with a crew-cab model coming in at $38,200. Engine options start with the 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. There is also a 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel engine, and a 5.3-liter or 6.2-liter V8. Horsepower ranges are from 277 to 420. 

Model packages start with the High Country, then move up to the Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, and RST/RST Limited.
