The automotive industry is going through a significant transformation with the rise of electric vehicles (EVs). Among the prominent players in this revolution is Cadillac, a brand known for its luxurious and innovative vehicles. With the introduction of the Cadillac Lyriq, Cadillac EVs have taken a huge step into the future of electrification.

However, Cadillac has some competition from other heavy hitters in the industry, namely Subaru and Genesis. In this article, we’ll go over the sales for the Cadillac Lyriq, the Genesis GV60, and the Subaru Solterra and speculate about how popular the Lyriq really is among competitors.

An overview of the Cadillac Lyriq

The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq is an all-electric SUV that is Cadillac’s first vehicle to be built on the General Motors Ultium platform. The Lyriq is available in rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations and has an EPA-estimated range of up to 312 miles for the RWD model and 307 miles for the AWD model.

The Lyriq is powered by a 102.0-kWh lithium-ion battery and a single electric motor in the RWD model or two electric motors in the AWD model. The Lyriq can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds for the AWD model and has a top speed of up to 130 mph.

According to Car and Driver, the RWD model is sold out for 2023, but the 500-hp Dual Motor AWD model that boasts a 3500-lb towing capacity is still available.

Year-to-date sales figures and comparison

GM Authority reports that the Cadillac Lyriq sales totaled 1,348 units for the second quarter of 2023. There is no percentage increase or decrease from last year because the Lyriq wasn’t sold during the second quarter of 2022.

However, the second quarter performance represents growth from the first quarter 2023 sales figures, where 968 units of the Lyriq were sold, according to GoodCarBadCar. On the other hand, the Subaru Solterra has sold 758 units with a total of 3,730 YTD. The Genesis GV60 has sold 1,581 YTD. However, it only sold 517 last year, so there was an increase of more than 200% from last year.

Similarities and differences between the Cadillac EV and its competitors

The Cadillac Lyriq, Subaru Solterra, and Genesis GV60 are all part of the EV revolution, but each brand brings its unique strengths to the table.

The Cadillac Lyriq is the most luxurious of the three SUVs, with a spacious interior and a high-tech infotainment system. It also has the longest range, at up to 312 miles on a single charge, with its 102.0-kWh battery. However, it’s also the most expensive, with a starting price of $59,990.

The Genesis GV60 is a slightly more affordable option, with a starting price of $59,290. It’s also more fun to drive than the Lyriq, thanks to its sportier suspension and sharper handling with the Performance model. The GV60 has a 77.4-kWh battery that provides an EPA-estimated range of 248 miles for the Advanced trim and 235 miles for the Performance trim.

The Subaru Solterra is the most affordable of the three SUVs, with a starting price of $46,220. It also has the best all-wheel-drive system and 8.3 inches of ground clearance, making it a good choice for drivers who live in snowy climates. However, the Solterra has the worst range of all three, with 228 miles on a single charge.

So, which SUV is the right one for you? If you’re looking for the most luxurious and technologically advanced option, the Cadillac Lyriq is the way to go. If you’re looking for a more affordable and fun-to-drive SUV, the Genesis GV60 is a good choice. And if you need an SUV with the best all-wheel-drive system and good ground clearance, the Subaru Solterra is the best bet.
