Discovering how reliable a vehicle is can be challenging, but it’s vital for costly options like the Cadillac Escalade full-size SUV. For any make, model, and year, each owner is likely to have a completely different experience. However, the best models often get excellent reliability scores from multiple sources on the internet. For example, J.D. Power and Consumer Reports use owner surveys to determine how reliable a model is over time. How reliable is the 2022 Cadillac Escalade?

According to current and previous owners who reported to J.D. Power, the 2022 Cadillac Escalade is reliable. The user rating for quality and reliability is an excellent 83 out of 100. The full-size SUV earned the same score overall, averaging each of the four categories consumers were polled about. For example, most users reported an excellent overall driving experience, awarding the Escalade with an 85. This comes as no surprise, seeing as it’s an expensive, high-end, luxury model.

JDP says its quality and reliability rating “measures the level of defects, malfunctions, and design flaws experienced by vehicle owners. Covers the entire vehicle from engine to infotainment system. A higher rating means fewer problems.” As a result, it’s clear that most owners of the 2022 model year Escalade have been pleased with their purchase. Although it hasn’t been too long since production began, so there’s plenty of time for owners to discover more long-term issues.

Consumer Reports: “Less reliable than other new cars”

However, the experts at Consumer Reports gave a much different rating than its colleagues at JDP. For the 2022 Cadillac Escalade, reliability isn’t one of its strengths. CR reported that the model has been recalled by the NHTSA two times already. For a model that’s been on sale for just over a year, two recalls seems like a lot. Although it’s excellent that recalls get repaired for free, the hassle of taking one’s vehicle to a dealer for the remedy is a lot to deal with. Additionally, who knows what other, possibly dangerous, recalls will take place going forward.

As a result of these findings, the publication expects the 2022 Cadillac Escalade to be less reliable than other new cars. On average, most vehicles end up with a 3 or 4-star reliability rating from this source. After polling thousands of owners over the years, CR determines how frequently you’ll experience problems with each vehicle. Most of the time, there aren’t too many significant issues, but the Escalade is likely to have more. Additionally, it doesn’t have the strongest reputation based on past model years.

Is the 2022 Cadillac Escalade reliable?

In conclusion, we wouldn’t expect the 2022 Cadillac Escalade to be a reliable vehicle. Although sources like J.D. Power report a high-reliability rating, the model is only a year old. For a better grasp of how the Escalade will perform long-term, it’s much more accurate to look at older model years. Since the Cadillac full-size SUV hasn’t changed much, reliability will likely be the same. In the past, models as recent as the 2015 Escalade have a much lower rating, scoring just 60 out of 100 for reliability from JDP.
