GMC enthusiasts got to enjoy the automaker’s latest model this past year. After the crossover SUV hit the markets and the roads, the research, data, and scores of the 2020 GMC Acadia have begun to roll in. The Acadia came in 18th place among midsize SUVs. In terms of crossover models, the Acadia landed in the 42nd spot among competitors. GMC incorporated many changes into the popular model, and the 2020 Acadia received a lot of positive feedback, except in one area.

Check out the pros and cons of the Acadia and find out how reliable it really is.

The new and Improved GMC Acadia

GMC promised drivers many exciting changes with the new Acadia, and the automaker delivered. The 2020 model marks the first Acadia to join the AT4 line. Its “exclusive grille design with a black chrome finish, gloss black roof rails, black mirror caps, and a black chrome tail lamp accent panel” are a few of the Acadia AT4’s exclusive and distinctive features, according to GMC.

The new turbo-four engine was another exciting change GMC was happy to announce regarding the 2020 Acadia. The vehicle comes with many more standard features. Nine-speed automatic transmission and the GMC infotainment interface are just two of the new standard features. The groundbreaking and innovative technology has never been easier to use and navigate with an 8-inch color touchscreen. There are definitely plenty of impressive things going on with the 2020 Acadia. But it isn’t all positive.

Pros and cons of the 2020 GMC Acadia

GMC was excited to announce and release the newest Acadia. The model was praised for its smooth ride, impressive fuel economy, and groundbreaking infotainment system. In addition, the Acadia was recognized for its comfortable and spacious seating options. However, there were a few bumps in the road.

Though the first two of the rows of the GMC Acadia seemed to please customers and drivers, many people were dissatisfied with the cramped third row. In addition, many people were disappointed with the underwhelming interior of the car. On top of that, limited cargo space proved to be another negative for the 2020 Acadia. But that wasn’t the least of GMC’s worries.

U.S. News scores the Acadia on reliability

The Acadia’s subpar predicted reliability rating from U.S. News was a big blow. Once the 2020 Acadia was finally released, reliability results were less than satisfactory. U.S. News shared that the 2020 model received a below-average score. J.D. Power gave the new Acadia a 2.5 out of 5. That low number, along with GMC’s unreliable and disappointing warranty, is worth considering before purchasing a 2020 Acadia.

Consumer Reports reviews the Acadia

U.S. News wasn’t the only source reporting troubling information about the 2020 GMC Acadia. Reviewing the reliability of the vehicle, Consumer Reports gave the model a shockingly low score as well.

With 17 potential trouble spots, the vehicle leaves a lot to be desired. Reports of the display screen freezing and problems with the drive system were just two of the many complaints 2020 GMC Acadia owners made. Rattles and squeaks also caused many Acadia drivers concern.

Also, a large number of recalls didn’t do anything to help the matter. There seemed to be an endless number of problems — ranging from the tires to the fuel pump — when it came to this crossover. As far as reliability goes, the 2020 GMC Acadia isn’t the best choice.
