SUVs have become increasingly popular over the last few years for a variety of reasons. For one, they are as rugged as pickup trucks and are usually able to haul and tow just as much weight as a standard-sized truck. Also, SUVs have an abundance of interior space that makes them perfect for accommodating a lot of passengers or a lot of cargo.

Another thing that makes SUVs so reliable is the amount of safety features that these vehicles come equipped with. When it comes to safety, many drivers choose the Chevrolet Suburban over other SUVs in its class because the Suburban is known as one of  the safest SUVs on the market. Chevrolet has always utilized the latest technology to ensure that every one of its vehicles has a comprehensive list of safety features, and the Suburban is certainly no different.

Recently, the Chevy Suburban has been redesigned to offer its drivers even more style and comfort features than ever before. But with the new design, many consumers are wondering if the Suburban is still just as safe as it has always been. Keep reading to find out just how safe the new Chevrolet Suburban is.

What safety ratings does the Chevrolet Suburban have?

The Chevy Suburban is basically the SUV version of the Chevy Silverado 1500. Both of these vehicles have the same body, frame, and powertrain. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the 2019 Silverado 1500 a four-out-of-five star rating in overall safety. The NHSTA also gave the truck a four-star frontal crash rating and a four-star side crash rating.

Furthermore, the IIHS investigated what exactly it was about the truck’s structural design that made it so safe. In a crash test, the IIHS found that the Silverado 1500 had a strong roof construction, a good side structure and safety cage, and it’s seats offered plenty of room that helped to prevent injuries during a crash. Because of the similarities between the Silverado 1500 and the Suburban, you can be sure that the latter offers just as much occupant protection.

The 2020 Chevy Suburban is just as safe as the 2019 model. According to U.S. News, the NHSTA gave the 2020 Suburban a four-star overall safety rating, but it also has a five-star side-crash safety rating.

What safety features come standard?

The 2020 Suburban comes with several safety features, including front and rear airbag systems. It also uses the all of the latest technology to deliver a wide range of driver-assist features like a Lane Departure Warning system, a Lane Keep Assist system, Electronic Stability Control, and Brake Assist. In comparison to the other vehicles in its class, the Chevrolet Suburban has a very impressive list of standard and available safety features.

The Chevrolet Suburban is expected to get even more impressive

Recently, Chevy announced that it would be completely redesigning the 2021 Suburban in order to make it one of its most impressive SUVs to ever hit the road. The new Chevrolet Suburban will now be built on a new chassis that features an independent rear suspension and will also have a longer wheel base. This new design will not only improve the SUV’s off-road capabilities, but the longer body will also help to give this full-size SUV even more interior space than it has ever had before.

In addition to the new design, the 2021 Suburban will also feature even more safety features. It will reportedly have at least 30 different safety and convenience features. Some of these new features will include Automatic Emergency Braking, HD Surround View, Rear Park Assist, Forward Collision Alert, and a Following Distance Indicator.

This year, the Chevrolet Suburban comes with many different features that make it a very safe vehicle for you and your family. And even though the Suburban is one of the safest SUVs on the market today, Chevy has come up with several different new and innovative ways to make it even safer in the future.
