How Safe Is The Nissan Rogue?
The Nissan Rogue is a sporty SUV that you can get for a fair price to take advantage of its excellent fuel economy and all-wheel drive abilities around the city. But is if a safe vehicle for your friends and family to ride in?
Is The Nissan Rogue Safe?
First of all, for a little background, you can get started in a Nissan Rogue for around $25k. It has a fuel economy of 26 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway, which is pretty competitive, and 170 horsepower.

It’s a lightweight vehicle that’s available in AWD to get you and five passengers around town, but can it do that safely?
Yes, it’s pretty safe. It’s not an award winner or a top safety pick, but it did receive an average of four stars and a rating of good in most safety tests.
IIHS Safety Ratings
The Insurance Institue For Highway Safety (IIHS) tested the Nissan Rogue SV in a few different crash tests using crash dummies to measure injuries to the head/neck, torso, and pelvis/leg regions.
When tested for the ability to prevent striking pedestrians, the automatic braking and pedestrian braking systems received a superior rating. The Rogue reduced the speed of impact by 11 mph when facing a collision at 12 mpg. It also avoided a crash at 25 mph.

This was the highest score the Nissan Rogue received. In all other areas, the Rouge is considered to be ‘Good’ or ‘Unacceptable.’
The side impact test results were good, the roof strength test results were excellent, and the small overlap front passenger collisions results were acceptable, which is the lowest rating a vehicle can receive and still pass.
NHSTA Safety Ratings
The National Highway Safety Traffic Administration (NHSTA) also found the Nissan Rogue to be fairly average in terms of safety.
When simulating crashes at 35 mph, the Rogue had a four-star rating for front driver and passenger safety. But for side-impact tests, the Rogue actually received five-star ratings when tested at 38 mph. This category is where the Rogue scored the highest.
Also, in the likelihood of rolling over due to the loss of control, the Rogue scored four stars, so this SUV is pretty stable.
Overall Safety
The 2020 Nissan Rogue hasn’t received any recalls as of yet and is equipped with modern safety features. The lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic alerts, traction control, blind-spot monitoring, and more all provide protection and peace of mind.
The Electronic Stability Control is also great for maintaining control in adverse conditions such as snow and heavy rain. Plus, the Safety Shield 360 protects the entire vehicle for extra confidence on the road.

Even though this vehicle hasn’t received a redesign, it still looks great, and for the price, power, and fuel economy, it should definitely be considered as a family SUV. It will keep your friends and family members pretty safe.
