How The 2021 Chevy Trailblazer Is A Major Let Down

The Chevy Trailblazer is back, baby! Are you excited to see what this iconic SUV can do? Well, maybe you shouldn’t be. There is no easy way to say this, but the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer is a total let down. The significant changes made to the Trailblazer during its revival are pretty disappointing.  The 2021 …

The 2021 Chevy Trailblazer Is Disappointing

First, we have to, unfortunately, start by pointing out the fact that the new 2021 Chevy Trailblazer is no longer a larger SUV that can go off-roading, fit your entire family, or tow your boat anymore.

Instead, it’s been revived as a compact SUV to compete against other small options like the Ford EcoSport or Nissan Kicks.

Say goodbye to your fond memories of older Trailblazers, because it’s become completely transformed to fit in a different class.

However, on a positive note, you won’t have to spend much to purchase a 2021 Chevy Trailblazer. The base model starts around $19k. This makes it one of the rare 2021 options that’s available for under $20k.

2021 Chevy Trailblazer Performance

Now, if you expect a vehicle to be a little weak if it starts under $20k, then you aren’t wrong. The Chevy Trailblazer’s most powerful engine is a 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder option that only produces 155 horsepower.

The 1.2-liter three-cylinder option only pumps out 135 horsepower, so you might as well spend a little more for the 1.3-liter engine.

Also, be sure to spend the extra $2k necessary to add all-wheel drive to your Chevy Trailblazer so you won’t be out of luck if it snows.

We also recommend upgrading from the 16” wheels to the 17” alloy wheels that are designed for all four seasons. The larger tire size will improve handling and cornering.

2021 Chevy Trailblazer Specs

The 2021 Chevy Trailblazer will be small but not as little as the Chevy Trax. However, the Trax gives us ideas of what to expect, which is plenty of space in front seats for the driver and front passenger, but a cramped backseat for everyone else.

We predict that only four people will be able to fit in the new Trailblazer comfortably. Also, we know that the back seat will have a 40/60 split with up to 54 cubic feet of cargo space.

The 2021 Chevy Trailblazer will have a 7” infotainment center that isn’t the best or worst. It can connect to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, at least.

We do know that it will be able to connect to two different Bluetooth devices at once, but we don’t know if it will be a Wf-fi hotspot or not.

Also, the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer hasn’t been tested to provide safety ratings yet. The NHTSA and IIHS still need to perform crash tests.

But we do know that the Trailblazer will have a few standard safety features such as forward collision prevention, lane-keeping assistance, and blind-spot monitoring.

The 2021 Chevy Trailblazer is projected to go on sale earlier in 2020, but we aren’t sure if the Coronavirus (COVID-19) will delay the release of these little SUVs or not. We will keep you updated as we learn more.
