Most of us never envisioned a day when we would be comparing any Nissan vehicle to a Ram truck, but that’s exactly what’s happening. While it started out as a company that primarily manufactured cars, Nissan has delved into the truck industry with the Titan and Frontier.

While the sales of the Nissan trucks might not be as high as the sales generated by Chevy, Ram, and Ford, Nissan trucks are selling quite well. The company has even gone so far as to create the Titan Midnight Edition which is currently drawing favorable comparisons to the 1500 Ram Night Edition.

Both the Nissan Titan Midnight Edition and the Ram Night Edition are statement-making trucks. While the special editions of both trucks don’t vary much from the standard Titans and Ram 1500s, both look impressive as they roll down the road.

It looks like both car companies cut out a chunk of a cloudy night sky and formed it into a truck. Both trucks are completely black. The only glimmer of color is the tail and brake lights. Even the company name on the front grill of each truck is blacked out. Both trucks feature a boxy design that makes them look big and impressive: like there isn’t a job these trucks can’t easily handle.

How the Nissan Titan Midnight and Ram Night Edition perform

One of the first things you’ll notice when you slide behind the wheel of the Nissan Titan Midnight is that driving it is reminiscent of driving work trucks that were built in the ’90s.

The ride is considerably stiffer than many of the newer trucks on the market. While the stiffness might make you reconsider, if you’re looking for a vehicle to use for farm chores, two-tracking, or moving construction equipment, this truck is perfect.

If you’re simply looking for a commuter truck that you occasionally use for heavy lifting, the rougher ride is probably a deal-breaker. However, there are some truck fans who like the stiffer ride since it reminds them of the trucks they drove when they were younger.

The Ram Night Edition handles like the other vehicles in the Ram 1500 series. While Ram trucks are still a favored work truck, especially amongst farmers, the company is determined to make them as comfortable as possible.

The Ram Night Edition doesn’t disappoint. The truck is equipped with lovely seats that embrace passengers while they bounce down rough roads and a coil-link rear suspension that goes a long way towards helping the truck absorb bumps, potholes, and ruts. The smoother ride makes the Ram a great choice for both city commutes and working in your cow pastures.

The one downside to driving this truck is that the steering can feel a bit stiff. Drivers find that the Ram handles more like a crossover than a typical truck.

While both trucks are fun to drive and look impressive, the Ram Night Edition has a more luxurious feel than the Nissan Midnight Edition.
