The easiest way to charge your Chevrolet Bolt EV will be at home. Installing a home electric vehicle charger will allow you to charge up while you sleep or overnight, whenever electricity is cheapest. First up, you want to find an electrician! You will likely have questions about the various voltages and amps required for your new charging adventure. Having an electrician to help find a solution is important. Depending on your home, you might not need expensive upgrades for charging.

Then, you will want to find a home charger for your Chevy Bolt. If you want to stick with Chevrolet, the automaker offers a few different home chargers. The Level 1 charger uses a standard electrical outlet. Chevy’s EV comes with this charging cable, so you only need a plug. This will add about four miles of range for every hour of charging.

The Level 2 dual-level charging cord uses a 240-volt appliance outlet. The Chevy Bolt EV gets about 26 miles of range per hour of charge with this Level 2 option. There is another Level 2 charger using a 240-volt outlet up to 80 amps. The Bolt EV will add around 39 miles of range per hour of charge.

Does the Chevy Bolt EV come with a charger?

The Chevy Bolt EV comes with a charger, as previously mentioned. It will only add about four miles of range for every hour of charging, but that is enough for some people. If that isn’t enough, Chevrolet has a good deal on installing a charger right now.

Currently, Chevy says it will cover the installation of a Level 2 charger at home. Chevrolet will cover the standard Level 2 charging outlet installation for eligible customers who purchase or lease a 2022 Bolt EV or EUV.

If that doesn’t work for your situation, you can buy a charger on Amazon or Home Depot. Getting an electrician involved is still a good idea, so the charger is installed correctly.

What kind of electric vehicle charging station does this Chevy use?

Chevy offers more than 40,000 public charging stations for the Bolt EV. Drivers can charge up at level 2 and DC Fast-Charging stations. You can also use the Energy Assist app to help increase your efficiency and plan trips. Charging the Chevrolet Bolt with Level 2 charging will get 39 miles of range per hour. Fast-Charging can add up to 100 miles of range per hour.

Electrify America, EVGo, and ChargePoint are the most popular charging stations. You can use the U.S. Department of Energy’s Alternative Fuels Data Center electric vehicle charging station map to help locate chargers around you.
