We’re a little worried about the Nissan Titan because it isn’t keeping up with the rest of the pack. Even the Toyota Tundra was finally redesigned, but the 2023 Nissan Titan could be the same old truck. It might not receive any updates until 2024. 

2023 Nissan Titan: What’s new? 

Despite the rumors suggesting that the 2023 Nissan Titan will be discontinued, it will live a little longer in America. We hope that the Titan can make it until 2024, when it’s expected to be redesigned, but it was already discontinued in Canada, making things feel uncertain. 

The Titan hasn’t been redesigned since 2015, making it one of the oldest options available, like the Ram 1500 Classic. That was the last time it got a new powertrain option, meaning its current engines are pretty old. 

But the new engines aren’t available yet. The 2023 model will use the same 5.6-liter V8 engine with 400 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque. This is an excellent amount of standard power, but this is the only engine option. 

The Titan gets an EPA-estimated 16 mpg in the city and up to 21 mpg on the highway, putting it behind rivals. 

Is the Nissan Titan worth buying? 

Yes, the Nissan Titan is worth buying if you want a powerful truck that’s pretty comfortable. However, Edmunds ranks it in last place because rivals like the Toyota Tundra, Ford F-150, and Ram 1500 have a lot more to offer. 

The Titan can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 7.5 seconds, which isn’t exactly exciting. It has heavy steering and feels heavy and cumbersome around town. Plus, the brakes are a little weak, so give yourself extra time to stop. 

When properly equipped, the Titan can tow up to 11,060 lbs and carry a payload of up to 1,711 lbs. Rivals like the Ford F-150 can tow up to 14,000 lbs, so it falls short again. 

On a positive note, the Titan features a smooth ride over the pavement. Impacts are absorbed well, and the front seats are incredibly comfortable and supportive. However, the rear seats have the least amount of passenger space in the segment. 

For off-roading, the Nissan Titan Pro-4X adds tow hooks, skid plates, Bilstein shocks, and 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 32-inch General Grabber tires. 

How much does the Titan cost?

You can get started in the 2022 Nissan Titan for $38,810. This is the MSRP, so the price doesn’t include the destination fee or dealership markups. It has the highest starting price in its segment. 

It doesn’t have much to make up for the price difference. The interior is a bit bland and includes tons of plastics and other cheap materials. An 8-inch touchscreen comes standard, but you can upgrade to a 9-inch unit. The system is a bit slow and has grainy graphics. 

Standard safety features include forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot warning, trailer sway control, lane-departure warning, rear-cross traffic alert, and parking sensors. 

So, to keep up with rivals, the Titan needs more engine options, more towing power, an updated interior, updated tech, and a better fuel economy. It might not gain any of these features until 2024!
