How You Can Save Over $10K on a New Audi e-tron
The 2019 Audi e-tron currently starts at an MSRP of $74,800, which is a lot of money for most people. The good news is that with a number of discounts available right now through Costco and other sources, the price may drop down near $60,000. Here’s a look at the details on reducing the 2019 e-tron’s price.
Costco’s program for drivers
According to CarsDirect, buyers can save up to $13,000 by buying through Costco and claiming tax credits. Costco is currently offering a promotional discount on the Audi e-tron. The discount program started on January 17, 2020, and it gives a $2,000 cash bonus when buying or leasing any version of the 2019 e-tron through the Costco Auto Program. Buyers and lessees can get an additional $500 as a Costco Cash Card by filling out an optional survey. To be eligible for the Costco deal, buyers should already be Costco members (by January 16) and should register with the Costco Auto Program.
Dealers also get a $3,000 “Marketing Allowance” from Audi. CarsDirect says that this dealer cash is paired with a 0.99% APR financing loan for up to 66 months. However, the “Marketing Allowance” isn’t something that’s advertised to the public, and not all dealers may decide to pass the savings along to the buyer. Buyers should definitely shop around to make sure they’re getting the best deal out there.
Available tax credit
Tax credits and incentives provide another bonus for buyers. The Audi e-tron qualifies for some state and local incentives for plug-in vehicles and is eligible for a federal tax credit of up to $7,500. Some electric competitors can also get this tax credit, but not all of them. General Motors and Tesla have already each sold more than 200,000 plug-in vehicles, so their vehicles are no longer eligible for the tax credit. The Jaguar I-PACE is another electric vehicle that is still eligible for the federal tax credit.
Additional Audi e-tron perks
Another great perk of buying an Audi e-tron is that buyers are able to save on their electricity bills at home through a free 10-year subscription to solar power. Audi has partnered with Arcadia to offer these solar power discounts without the need to install solar panels. This deal is available anywhere in the U.S. to buyers or lessees of new or used 2019 e-tron models.
Additionally, Audi provides 1,000 kWh of charging at Electrify America stations for no additional cost during the first four years the owner has their e-tron.
The Audi e-tron
The e-tron is Audi’s electric all-wheel-drive SUV. It’s been well-reviewed for safety, earning both a 2019 IIHS Top Safety Pick+ and an NHTSA 5-star overall safety rating. Its estimated range is 204 miles before it needs to be recharged, and it gets 54 miles of range after a 10-minute charge. The vehicle can be charged at home with its provided charging capsule. Using a 240-volt plug, the e-tron takes about nine hours to fully charge.
The e-tron goes from 0 to 60 MPH in 5.5 seconds. It has a 95.0-kWh lithium-ion battery pack to power its two fully electric motors. Together, they generate 355 hp and 414 lb-ft of torque. In Sport mode, though, that increases to 402 hp and 490 lb-ft of torque. With the available package, it can tow up to 4,000 pounds. Its air suspension offers five different modes, including off-road. The e-tron has a digital gauge cluster, which it calls the Audi virtual cockpit, plus two touchscreen displays.
Competitors include the 2020 Jaguar I-PACE and the Tesla Model X. The Jaguar I-PACE has a starting price of $70,875, but during February, there is a $5,000 cash incentive. The Tesla Model X has a starting price of about $86,000, but that can rise above $100,000 for the Performance trim level.
CarsDirect points out that the $13,000 worth of savings and the low-interest loan make this a great time to buy the Audi e-tron. The deal from Audi runs through March 2, and the Costco bonus goes through March 31, so if you’re interested in buying, now is the time.
