Hyundai Invites You to Become a Better Driver
Do you currently own a Hyundai Veloster N and always wondered how it would do on a race track? Or are you simply wondering what it feels like to drive a Hyundai N-Line car on a track like the Nürburgring? If you said “yes” to either of these questions, then the Hyundai Driving Experience could be perfect for you. Don’t worry, no track driving experience is required.
The Hyundai Driving Experience is fun for all driver experience levels
With the Hyundai Driving Experience, the automaker is looking to not only give car enthusiasts some good track-driving experience, but it’s out to also showcase what its N Line-up of cars is capable of. According to Till Wartenberg, Vice President of N Brand Management and Motorsport at Hyundai, “The race track is not only the ideal place to realize the dynamic potential of our cars, it is also the best place to train the precision that is needed to master any driving situation in everyday life.”
It is definitely true that mastering or at least having some knowledge of driving on a race track can greatly improve your skill in controlling a car on regular roads and different driving conditions. So Hyundai set up the program to be fun for drivers of all skill levels.
The different levels of Hyundai excitement
The first level is “N-Experience” and it’s aimed at beginners with little to no track driving experience. This course is mainly so that anyone can get behind the wheel of a Hyundai N Model and get a good feel for how it drives and responds on track. Hyundai feels that drivers at this level will not only get to “experience excitement at the driving training facility,” but they will also come away with a lot of valuable driving tips. The cars used in this level are the i30 N and i30 Fastback N.
If you feel like you already have the basics down and would like to kick it up a notch, then the “Level 1” course could better suit your needs. In this more-experienced level, drivers will go through a series of race track events including full braking at 100 km/h, learning how to do a 180-degree “agent turn,” as well as driving on the racing line.
But if that’s not enough for you, then the “Level 2” course might be. This program consists of two-and-a-half days of more advanced driving exercises including double-lane changes, timed slalom runs, handling and braking drills, and pace-car laps.
In addition to the N Line driving experiences, Hyundai is now offering the “E-Experience,” in which drivers will get to learn about and drive the automaker’s all-electric Kona EV and Hyundai IONIQ models. And if driving isn’t your thing, then you can always opt for the Hyundai TCR Race Taxi experience, in which you’ll get to ride shotgun with a professional driver.
Where and how much does this cost?
Of course, the only catch is that you will have to make your way over to Germany to experience all of these courses. But luckily, they all take place at the famed Nurburgring Grand Prix Track and Müllenbachschleife. The cost for each is $113 for the N-Experience, $606 for Level 1, $1,030 for the Level 2 experience, $228 for the TCR Race taxi experience, and $113 for the E-Experience.
While the more-affordable experiences are a one-day affair, the Level 1 experience lasts for one-and-a-half days and the price also includes an overnight stay in a hotel. While those taking part in the Level 2 experience will be treated to two-and-a-half days of training experience and will be treated to two nights and breakfast at a 4-star hotel near the track. Whether you like Hyundai cars or not, we think that this is probably one of the best and most affordable ways to get familiar with them on a race track.
