The bold styling of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a bit over the top for some. However, Hyundai is making its lineup of EVs easily identifiable by its futuristic design cues. Namely, the LED taillights stand out. While there’s been some hints, previews, and even some spy shots partially revealing the full Ioniq 6 design, the wait is now over!

New Hyundai Ioniq 6 design features a long, sleek body with luxurious styling cues

Hyundai released a press release on June 28th, 2022, revealing the Ioniq 6 design. As many suspected, it draws a lot of influence from the Prophecy EV concept.

“IONIQ 6 connects an emotional convergence of functionality with aesthetics,” said SangYup Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of Hyundai Design Center. “The distinctive streamlined design is the result of close cooperation between engineers and designers, with obsessive attention to detail and customer-centric values at the core. We have created the IONIQ 6 as a mindful cocoon that offers a personalized place for all.”

The styling from the front is relatively reminiscent of the Porsche Taycan. Certainly, Hyundai is no stranger to taking design influence from other manufacturers. Frankly, the Taycan is a tremendous influence to draw from, too.

In the rear, the Ioniq 6 uses uniquely styled LED lights. While they aren’t quite as extreme as those on the Prophecy EV concept, they do look quite stunning!

Overall, the Ioniq 6 has a smooth, sleek, and low body design that’s extremely functional. According to Hyundai, the Ioniq 6 has a drag coefficient of just 0.21. That beats out the Tesla Model S, Porsche Taycan, and virtually every other production car currently available. No range numbers are provided yet, but it’s safe to assume it’ll be impressive with such little wind resistance.

Inside, it’s pretty futuristic, too. The Ioniq 6 has a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system as well as a 12-inch digital gauge cluster. Additionally, the cabin offers ambient lighting and ample storage space to make it feel like home to any driver.

The new Hyundai EV also uses environmentally friendly materials

Hyundai is taking the EV environmentally conscious movement to a new level with the development of this car.

“In line with IONIQ 6’s Ethical Uniqueness theme and inspired by today’s eco-conscious consumers, the designers applied sustainable materials to the exterior, including recycled pigment paint from end-of-life tires to the cladding and bamboo charcoal pigment paint to the body,” Hyundai wrote in its press release.

Additionally, the interior is available with eco-process leather seats or recycled fabric seats. Additionally, it has paint derived from vegetable oils and even uses carpet made from recycled fishnets.

Hyundai also released a 3D digital film on billboards in K-POP Square in Seoul, South Korea, Piccadilly Circus in London, and the Big Kahuna in New York Times Square.

Hyundai also announced that the Ioniq 6 will get a full world reveal event in July. At this event, the company intends to release all of the details, including its power output, its overall charge range, and performance specifications. So, it’s definitely something worth keeping an eye out for!

Overall, the new Ioniq 6 looks like it’s going to be a great addition to the ever-growing lineup of hybrids and EVs from Hyundai.
