The popularity of the Hyundai Palisade is unprecedented for the South Korean company. It consistently rates in the top two or three in consumer surveys, and by testers as well. But Hyundai didn’t want to rest on its laurels, so the 2023 Palisade has been dramatically changed up. And besides the facelift and interior upgrades, it is getting some better offroad goodies.

A lot of Hyundai’s record-breaking sales figures come from Palisade sales. And much of those sales are due to the spacious interior, performance, and details that appeal to SUV buyers. But it is also seeing sales because of its design. So it is surprising it’s getting this major facelift. What are the changes to the 2023 Palisade?

The fascia, including the headlights, wheels, and mirrors will be completely new. Those mirrors will incorporate automatic dimming and integrated turn signals. And inside the cabin, there are still more changes.

Both the eight-inch and 10.25-inch screens will get pitched. Replacing them is a 12.3-inch screen that adds navigation to its functions. Other new features include dynamic voice recognition, a full rearview mirror display, hydrophobic windows, remote smart park assist, Digital Key 2.0, and Bluelink enhancements. 

Hyundai has upgraded the materials and functions of the cabin as part of the changes, too. The dashboard, instrument cluster, floor console trim, steering wheel, and seats will be new. So too is smart cruise control and reverse parking collision avoidance assist. 

2023 Palisade XRT is the newest offroad trim

The all-new XRT trim delves into mild offroad durability. This is a direct response to Honda’s Passport TrailSport package. Dark 20-inch wheels, more aggressive lower bumpers with skid plates, a dark finished grille, raised roof rails, and a power sunroof is all part of this package. For the all-wheel-drive feature, Tow Mode has been added. 

Besides the new XRT package, there is also the base SE, SEL, Limited, and Calligraphy trims. Some changes to the SEL, Limited, and Calligraphy packages include an eight-way power seat, wireless charging, and 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio. For the Calligraphy, all three seats are heated, plus standard driver-assist and safety features. 

Some things change, some don’t

What remains as with the 2022 models is the powertrain, with its 3.8-liter GDI V6 engine. It pumps out 291 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque, spinning an eight-speed automatic transmission. This drive system gives power when needed, without the hesitation or balking of lower-powered SUVs. Shifts are smooth and precise, without lag or hunting for gears. 

It is too early for Hyundai to release pricing, so that remains in the dark. But we do know that the 2023 Palisade will be available later this summer.
