The Hyundai Tucson N Line Shouldn’t Challenge the Honda CR-V
Uh oh, Hyundai is speaking a big game again. The Hyundai Tucson N Line is picking on the innocent Honda CR-V. While the CR-V was minding its business, the 2022 Hyundai Tucson N Line claimed to be much sportier.
Is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson N Line worth buying?
Yes, the 2022 Hyundai Tucson N Line is worth buying if you want to transform your SUV into a sportier-looking racing model. The entry-level Tucson starts at around $24,950, while the N Line increases the price to about $31,200.
On that note, the 2022 Honda CR-V costs about $26,400. These prices are the MSRPs, meaning they do not include the destination fees or dealership markups.
Opting for the Tucson N Line provides a more confident look with a unique grille and fresh front and rear bumper designs. It comes with black headlamp bezels, fender N Line badging, black side mirrors and window surrounds, a dual-tip exhaust, N Line rear spoiler, and 19-inch black alloy wheels.
The interior features N Line logos on the steering wheel, shifter, and seats. It includes a mix of leather and fabric upholstery, red accents, a black headliner, metal pedals, and metal door sill plates.
Is the Tuscon N Line sportier than the Honda CR-V?
The 2022 Hyundai Tucson certainly looks and feels a bit sportier. The N Line is powered by the 2.5-liter inline-four engine with 187 hp and 178 lb-ft of torque. This is the same engine as the base models.
It’s a little disappointing that the Tucson N Line doesn’t have more power. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 8.4 seconds. This isn’t exactly exciting, but it’s adequate. It’s perfectly fine for merging into traffic and passing others on the highway.
The 2022 Honda CR-V comes with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 190 hp and 179 lb-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 7.8 seconds, making it faster than the N Line.
According to Edmunds, the Tucson is a bit sluggish with the entry-level engine, but the CR-V has a quick acceleration.
The Tucson is composed around corners and can be slow to downshift. The CR-V provides precise and connected steering with confident steering and limited body roll.
Does the Tucson N Line provide more value?
The 2022 Hyundai Tucson N Line and the Honda CR-V provide about the same amount of value. The CR-V EX-L is about the same price as the N Line and includes leather upholstery, a power liftgate, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
While the CR-V’s infotainment system is only 7-inches, the Hyundai Tucson has a 103.-inch screen available. Both SUVs come with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and offer a wireless phone charging pad.
Both SUVs have standard automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and lane-departure warning, but the CR-V also provides standard adaptive cruise control.
While the 2022 Hyundai Tucson N Line certainly has a sportier look, we aren’t sure that it can tackle the Honda CR-V. It could be sportier and may even provide more value.
