Hyundai Wants to Have a Solar Tonneau Cover for the Santa Cruz
Worksport Limited is a clean energy corporation that has recently signed a formal agreement with Hyundai to make prototypes of its SOLIS, a solar tonneau cover for its Santa Cruz pickup. This formal agreement was signed by the company and Hyundai’s America technical center Incl. (HATCI). The company will also create a modified form of its COR energy storage system for the Santa Cruz truck pickup.
The new deal between Worksport and Hyundai for a solar tonneau cover
According to AutoBlog, the prototype tonneau will have the capacity to generate 650 watts. The formal agreement specifies that the clean energy manufacturer will create a solar Tonneau cover and energy storage system specifically fit for the Santa Cruz bed.
Worksport said HATCI had presented 3D data for the project in a recent press release. After this development, the companies are now ready to collaborate to explore the advantages of their products and determine the viability of their partnership in the future. HATCI is the American division of the Korean automaker Hyundai Motors. During the signing of the agreement, both companies expressed their delight in working together on the solar tonneau project and were eager to witness the final results.
Worksport will release the tonneau and storage system models for Santa Cruz in October 2022, according to the agreement with Hyundai. Upon the release of the project results, Hyundai will decide whether it will work with Worksports on its range of electric trucks yet-to-be-released.

The company also expressed its hope and confidence that Hyundai will work with them on the SOLIS and COR systems once they deliver the project results.

Notable features of the Santa Cruz pickup truck
The all-new 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz will combine the advantages of SUVs and traditional pickup trucks. According to Car And Driver, its standard features will not disappoint. This pickup truck has Android Auto, an 8-inch touchscreen, and wireless Apple CarPlay.
The Santa Cruz also includes several driver assistance technologies such as optional adaptive cruise control and standard driver attention warning.
This pickup features a four-door, all-wheel drive, front-engine, and five passenger capacity set up. Its interior cabin is one of the best in midsize pickups. The Santa Cruz cargo bed is among the shortest, about 4 ft long, but it does come with a lockable tonneau cover.
Hyundai’s Santa Cruz offers two powertrain choices. The standard setup will include a 2.5L 4-cylinder with 191 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. The second version will be an upgraded powertrain with a turbocharged 2.5 L engine, 281 hp, and 311 lb-ft of torque.
Both engines are linked to an eight-speed transmission and are available in FWD and AWD. Other security features include automated emergency braking, forward-collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and blind-spot monitoring. Hyundai’s Santa Cruz also has a lane-keep assist and standard lane departure warnings.
