You don’t have to be a car enthusiast to know that the car you drive says a lot about you. While car owners usually come with stereotypes, some of them are based on a lot of real-life experiences many people have had. Ideal Media, a popular YouTube channel, put together this rather hilarious, and slightly accurate, video of eight popular cars or types of cars and the types of people that drive them. While some of them might be offensive others are downright funny, and chances are you will find yourself agreeing to at least a handful.

Something we can all agree on

As a BMW fan and owner, I couldn’t help but laugh at their assessment, because they are stereotypes even I’ve lived up to. While I may agree with some of these hilarious stereotypes, just keep in mind…I’m just passing this video along. BMW owners are Germain-car fangirls, and they typically rank up there in obsession with horse girls. Don’t get me wrong, this rings pretty true for me because I do love BMW performance and aesthetics, so you can consider me one of the people called out in this YouTube video.

Then some of these stereotypes are ones that aren’t so popular — or at least I’ve never heard of them. The one that caught my interest was the Subaru Wagon as a biology-lovers dream car. In the YouTube video Brad set’s the car up as a stereotype for hipsters to drive. Again, I did say that some of the stereotypes didn’t really make sense. There were also a handful of cars more picked for the list, and some of them were a little more reasonable.

Then of course the YouTube video goes after the biggest stereotypes out there, starting with lifted trucks. While lifted trucks can be aesthetically pleasing and do require a lot of time and money to build and maintain, they do carry a pretty bad reputation. If you don’t drive a lifted truck, chances are when you see one rolling coal as it drives by you are rolling your eyes. There is a huge market for trucks and aftermarket parts, so when it comes down to it, it’s all about personal preference so we can’t really knock them.

Some of the comments in the YouTube video seemed like they were intended just to elicit a response. Whether you agree with all of them are not, there is a good chance at least one of these stereotypes left you nodding, or even got you to giggle. The important thing to remember is that all of these characterizations are based on stereotypes, and you shouldn’t take them to heart — unless you are a BMW driver who doesn’t use your turn signal…you should use your turn signal.
