The Chevy Tahoe has certainly been one of the most popular SUVs for decades. Between its age and the super-competitive segment it has to compete in, however, the Chevy Tahoe is finding it harder to keep up. But as the most competitive segment in the industry, there are plenty of other SUVs to choose from with plenty of space and features.

And if you’re considering getting the Chevy Tahoe, you may want to consider these three large SUV alternatives.

Hyundai Palisade

The Hyundai Palisade isn’t technically in the large SUV segment, but it is certainly roomy enough to be considered. According to U.S. News “10 Alternatives to the 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe,” the 2020 Hyundai Palisade is “a stylish and sophisticated three-row midsize SUV,” that has seating for up to eight passengers and up to 86.4 cubic-feet of cargo space.

All three rows of the Palisade are comfortable and roomy, paired to a well-designed, well-equipped interior. As with most new Hyundai vehicles, the Palisade comes standard with a variety of modern features, like an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. A suite of standard safety tech is also included with the Palisade, which includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, and more.

The 2020 Hyundai Palisade doesn’t just look nice on the interior either, receiving an overall score from U.S. News experts of 8.4/10 and a pick as Finalist for its “Best 3-Row SUV for Families” award. The midsize SUV comes with a standard, six-cylinder engine that packs plenty of power at 291 hp.

U.S. News experts claim that the 2020 Hyundai Palisade’s “powertrain is polished and responsive,” making the ride balanced and plush. But you also “get a lot for the money” with the Palisade, offering a long list of standard features starting at only around $31,000.

Dodge Durango

Buyers aren’t just drawn to the Chevy Tahoe for its size, but for the power that comes with it. And if power is what you want, U.S. News experts say “the Durango doles it out in a number of ways.”

There are a variety of powertrain options with the 2020 Dodge Durango to suit any buyer’s desire. As if the standard, 295-hp V6 isn’t enough muscle, there are also two available Hemi V8s that make 360 and 475 hp.

Not just loaded with power, the Durango delivers it with authority, as the 475-hp V8 engine can hit speeds of 60 miles per hour in just 4.4 seconds. This power also allows the Durango to tow up to 8,700 lbs. 

Starting prices for the 2020 Dodge Durango are super competitive for the segment, starting at around $30,000, according to U.S. News. It’s also a midsize SUV that offers seating for up to seven people and up to 85.1 cubic-feet of cargo space. The standard infotainment system is easy to use and comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Although the Dodge Durango’s safety scores may not be as good as some others, it does come with strong predicted reliability ratings. The 2020 Dodge Durango gets a good overall score by U.S. News experts of 8.1/10.

Jeep Grand Cherokee

The 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee earned another good overall score from U.S. News experts of 8.0/10 and is another contender in the midsize SUV segment. Unlike the Chevy Tahoe, the Jeep Grand Cherokee is a tad smaller, with seating for only five passengers and up to 68.3 cubic-feet of cargo space.

If you don’t necessarily need the third row offered by the Chevy Tahoe, “but still want the commanding presence of an SUV, the Grand Cherokee features a lineup of trims ranging from rugged to luxurious, to high-performance.” 

The Grand Cherokee’s starting price is competitive, at around $32,000, but can range up to an astounding $86,000 for the top end Trackhawk model. But buyers have the choice between four engine choices: a 295-hp six-cylinder, 360-hp eight-cylinder, 475-hp eight-cylinder, and an astounding 707-hp eight-cylinder.

This pushes the Grand Cherokee’s towing capacity to an impressive 7,200 lbs. Standard features for the Jeep Grand Cherokee include a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, folding front-passenger seats, a rearview camera, and a variety of standard safety features like blind-spot monitoring and rear parking sensors.
