Illegally Flipping Your Tesla Cybertruck Is Worth the Penalty Fee
When you buy a truck, you should be able to do whatever you want with it. However, if you buy the Tesla Cybertruck, you agree not to sell it for a year after delivery. If you flip your Tesla Cybertruck you may face fees, but it’s not enough to stop you from making a profit.
Flipping your Tesla Cybertruck comes with a fee
If you try to flip your Tesla Cybertruck for profit within one year of its delivery then you could face a fee of $50,000 or more, based on how much you make. This agreement must be signed by buyers and is supposed to hold buyers accountable.
However, it’s unclear if Tesla is tracking the vehicle identification numbers for the trucks that are being flipped. Also, you can sell your truck with written permission from Tesla and there are a few exemptions to the clause, such as “unforeseen circumstances.”
Plus, you could walk away with a huge payday even if you do get hit with the $50,000 fine. The number of Cybertruck models still outpaces the supply as demand runs rampant.
There are tons of Cybertrucks being sold online. One owner has old three trucks so far. One for $244,000, another for $195,000, and the third for $189,000.
The entry-level Cyberruck has an MSRP of $60,990. So if this model is sold for $244,000 then you have $183,010 in profit. Factor in the $50,000 fee, and you still have $133,010.
But the model with AWD starts at $79,990, and the Cyberbeast takes the price up to $99,990. These are probably more popular than the base model. They could fetch higher prices on the used market, or ruin your profit margin.
Also, value has been on the decline. At first, models were going for between $200,000 and $300,000. Now they’re going for between $100,000 to $200,000.
While you can still flip the Cybertruck for profit, the value is shrinking. The used prices could continue to decline as more models get delivered.
The spike of interest caused by the Cybertruck doesn’t seem to be slowing down but prices are cooling. If you’re going to make an illegal flip, hurry before the $50,000 fine eats your profit. But we don’t condone any illegal practices!
