Increasing 2023 Ford Maverick Production Still Isn’t Enough
The Ford Maverick has a serious problem that’s hard to sympathize with. It’s too popular, and there aren’t enough models to go around. As you play the world’s tiniest violin, remember that Ford is working on things by increasing the 2023 Ford Maverick production. However, it still can’t meet demand.
2023 Ford Maverick production is still struggling
The 2023 Ford Maverick sold out in the blink of an eye due to overwhelming demand and production limitations. There aren’t enough of these compact, fuel-efficient trucks to go around, leaving people out of luck.
Back in January, Ford announced that it would add a third shift at the Hermosillo Assembly Plant to ramp up production. This plan involves hiring 1,100 new direct employees and 5,000 indirect employees.
However, Ford CEO Jim Farley shared that this might not be enough to satisfy demand. While a capacity increase at the production plant in July will help, Ford still under-called the popularity of the Maverick.
He’s not confident that the production increase will provide enough MAverick models for everyone. Ford Authority noted that there is still a 10-day supply of Maverick trucks, and you can still find them.
The Ford Maverick clearly hit a positive nerve, and Ford is doing everything to increase supply and production.
Maverick production increased from 7,143 units in March to 9,469 in April. Roughly 25,486 units were completed in the first quarter of the year.
How long is the wait for a 2023 Maverick?
The 2023 Ford Maverick could take between four to 11 months to be delivered. In the best-case scenario, a Ford vehicle is built in about six weeks and delivered within 12 weeks. However, the Maverick has faced supply chain issues and rampant demand.
Nearly 86,000 Maverick orders were placed before the books closed. Plus, you have to account for dealership and fleet allocations. Luckily 2023 Maverick production started during the fall of 2022, but it still has to catch up.
Cranking out about 25,000 models per quarter might help Ford fill each reservation by the end of the year. But production is still subject to supply chain delays, recalls, and quality issues. We hope things run smoothly.
The Maverick Hybrid and Maverick Tremor have longer waiting times due to having a higher demand and more limited supplies.
When can you order the 2024 Maverick?
Rumors suggest that the order banks for the 2024 Ford Maverick will open on July 17, 2023. This feels a bit early since the 2023 orders opened in September. Orders were supposed to open in August but got delayed.
2024 Ford Maverick production could begin at the Hermosillo Assembly Plant on October 16, 2023. That doesn’t leave Ford with much time to wrap up 2023 orders. If we had to guess, some 2023 orders might get pushed to 2024.
Again, these dates are subject to change. Ongoing supply chain issues and rising inflation could cause delays. If you miss out on placing an order, you aren’t out of luck.
You might be able to find one at a local dealership. It might have a high markup, but maybe that’s worth cutting down on the wait time.
Aside from a production increase, Ford has been quiet about the 2024 Maverick. It’s unclear if it will have any significant changes or new packages. But we will be looking for updates. As always, stay tuned.
