Increasing 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning Prices Don’t Make Sense
We’re still coping with how weird trucks got in 2023. Now the 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning isn’t helping things. Fluctuating prices and production changes have run rampant. Now the Ford F-150 Lightning is getting more expensive.
How much does the 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning cost?
The 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning has an MSRP of $54,995. The $2,095 destination fee brings the price up to $57,090. This price is for the entry-level Pro model.
In 2023, the Pro had an MSRP of $49,995, so the price increased by $5,000. Most trims increased by $2,000 to $10,000, but a few higher-end trims actually got cheaper by $5,000 to $10,000.
The Lightning XLT has the biggest price jump from $54,995 to $64,995. The XLT and Pro models offer up to 240 miles of range. The new Flash trim starts at $73,495 and it’s the cheapest option with 320 miles of range.
You can save with the Lightning Platinum which is down from $91,995 to $84,995. Also, the Platinum Black model is down from $97,995 to $92,995.
Prices are still pretty high compared to the original $40,000 starting price. The Lightning received a few price hikes before dropping by nearly $10,000 in 2023. Now as production is nearly cut in half, prices are going up again.
But the good news is that each model qualifies for the $7,500 tax credit unless the price exceeds $80,000. Also, the F-150 Lightning is the most popular electric truck with 24,000 sales in 2023.
Demand is increasing, but at a slower rate than expected. Production is still being reduced because demand is expected to stall. Plus, Ford stalled production to improve overall quality.
Ford cut Lightning trims from seven to only five and reduced the available configurations as a way to optimize growth, profits, and customer access to the federal tax credit.
Prices have been fluctuating as demand first exceeded expectations but now things are cooling off? Ford seems to be all over the place as it attempts to navigate the EV boom.
