Infiniti has taken note and come to the table with a new vehicle that harkens back to the brand’s past.

Infiniti has needed to fill a gap in its lineup, and the new 2022 Infiniti QX55 is being heralded as a welcomed addition to the automaker’s crossover lineup. It has a sleek, artistic design, impressive technological amenities, and luxurious interior options quickly. And this SUV is sure to make waves and appeal to a myriad of customers across the spectrum.

Some have speculated the impending demise of Infiniti, partly due to its aging models. However, the luxury automaker isn’t resigning itself to failure. Instead, it created value-packed trim levels, like the Q50 Sensory, and is now fueling hype by calling back to its heyday.

Infiniti revealed the 2022 QX55 during a livestream concert featuring Aloe Blacc, who also hyped up the new SUV.

“The all-new Infiniti QX55 is classy. It just looks sleek, and it feels like it’s quality. Ultimately, the only thing I ever want to engage with is quality. From the musicians that I pick, to the food that I eat, to the car that I drive. I like to know that something is crafted with intention and purpose and that there’s quality behind every measure of it,” Blacc said via Infiniti’s press release.

The 2022 Infiniti QX55 is somewhat of a spiritual successor to the Infiniti FX,. Infiniti produced the FX, later known as the QX70, between 2002 and 2017. Many enthusiasts have clamored for a replacement for the ultra-agile SUV ever since.

The QX55 takes inspiration from its predecessor, displaying swift and curved lines that are still sharp. Meanwhile, Infiniti said the QX55’s unique grille was inspired by origami. Naturally, this design will easily capture the attention of oncoming drivers. Meanwhile, the SUV comes standard with 20-inch wheels, and at the rear end, you’ll see its signature ‘piano key’ taillights.

Other details we know about the upcoming SUV

Infiniti revealed quite a bit of information about its latest creation, sparking interest among consumers. The manufacturer’s heralded variable-compression turbocharged (VC-turbo) engine powers every 2022 Infiniti QX55 model. This four-cylinder powerplant is mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) and kicks out 268 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. Plus, the QX55 features a standard all-wheel-drive system for added traction on slippery surfaces.

Inside, you’ll find leatherette, leather, or semi-aniline leather upholstery, depending on which of the three trim levels you choose. The 2022 Infiniti QX55 also has cutting-edge technologies like wireless Apple CarPlay, a drive mode selector, and an available 16-speaker Bose sound system.

The 2022 Infiniti QX55 is an exciting newcomer to the luxury market

It’s always exciting when a new model is brought to market. The anticipation over whether the vehicle will be met with critical acclaim or fall flat is palpable. Will the 2022 Infiniti QX55 live up to the lofty expectations the automaker has set for itself? Only time will tell. However, Infiniti’s grand plans for the sleek design, trim options, and extensive technological offerings are undoubtedly enticing. It would be surprising to see this SUV fail when it comes to market in the spring of 2021 in North America.
