Is a 2024 Nissan GT-R NISMO Version Worth $100,000 More Than a Normal GT-R?
The 2024 Nissan GT-R gets an update for the first time in several years. And, we’re not the first to say it could use it. We’ve gotten used to the current car’s looks, even if we could never really get used to its unreal performance. But for 2024, it doesn’t just get a styling update, but a totally new NISMO version that packs an even greater punch.
But, is that 2024 GT-R NISMO really worth the $100,000 upgrade?
What’s new for the 2024 Nissan GT-R?
It’s a bit early in the product cycle for Nissan to announce 2024 cars. But the updated 2024 GT-R is coming this summer. It now comes in three flavors, Premium, T-Spec and NISMO. The new car gets revised bodywork, with a new lower facia and different rear wing to reduce drag and add downforce. The Premium and T-Spec cars make a stupefying 565 horsepower.
The Premium is the base car, while the T-Spec version gets the upgraded body package but not the upgraded performance of the NISMO version. The T-Spec does get Brembo brakes with upgraded rotors from the NISMO, per Nissan. Inside, the T-Spec also gets a unique green interior.
What is the new 2024 GT-R NISMO ?
The 2024 GT-R NISMO adds 45 horsepower, for an even 600 turbocharged ponies from its big V-6. The turbos were acquired from Nissan’s GT3 racecar. The NISMO package also adds new wheels, a carbon fiber hood and different engine cover, and it adds for the first time a limited-slip differential to the front axle. Many forget that the GT-R comes with all-wheel drive.
The NISMO also gets new 36-pound-lighter carbon-ceramic brakes that help it stop quicker, and new NISMO-tuned Vehicle Dynamic Control, which means better traction. It also gets an enhanced transmission, Recaro seats, and even increased torsional rigidity.
How much is a 2024 Nissan GT-R?
The 2024 Nissan GT-R Premium starts at $120,990. The GT-R T-Spec runs $140,990, and the GTR-NISMO package adds a stunning $100,000 to the base car’s price. While an extra 45 horsepower, a significantly reduced curb weight, and some amazing brakes may sound like a huge improvement. It’s doubtful that you’ll find the roads to really exploit all of this tech and performance. But, if you do happen along a Porsche 911 in the wid, you’ll hold your own against it.
That’s why the T-Spec makes a lot of sense for 2024. You get the improved brakes and better-looking body kit of the NISMO, without having to spend NISMO money. Also, there are so many aftermarket tuners working today, that you can likely find a shop that can add some boost to your GT-R that takes it significantly beyond 600 horsepower pretty easily.
