Is buying a used Mazda CX-30 worth it? The Mazda CX-30 can get expensive pretty quickly, so saving with a used model could help you save while still gaining power and a quality interior. But which model years have the most problems?

Is buying a used CX-30 a good idea?

Maybe. How reliable is the Mazda CX-30, though? According to the U.S.News, Mazda isn’t known for making reliable vehicles, but over time their quality has been improving. So, that is a bit of a red flag.

They suggest that Mazda is focused on creating vehicles that are fun to drive and look good instead of prioritizing the mass marker and overall value. But according to Consumer Reports, there is nothing to worry about. The 2020 Mazda CX-30 has a reliability rating of 5 out of 5.

But Consumer Reports is based on owner reviews. They send out anonymous surveys to see how people feel about their vehicles and to learn about potential problem areas. The Mazda CX-30 is so new that there hasn’t been much time to report on issues yet.

But Car Complaints allows drivers to post issues on their forum. Where new SUVs like the Kia Telluride already have complaints, the Mazda CX-30 currently has 0 complaints for any model year. This restores our faith in the vehicle, but all we can do now is compare the 2020 and 2021 model years.

Is a Used 2020 Mazda CX-30 a good option?

The base price for the 2020 Mazda CX-30 is about $21,900. This is a pretty competitive price against rivals. The Kia Soul starts around $17,000 but only has 141 hp. With the CX-30, you get 186 hp, which is a substantial increase in power.

Depending on your area, you might be able to find a used CX-30 for a few hundred to maybe a thousand bucks off. Currently, used models have a fair price around the market average.

According to Edmunds, the CX-30 is fun to drive. However, the engine is a bit sluggish and took about 9 seconds to reach 60 mph. It may struggle to pass people on the highway, but it has excellent handling and hugs corners on tight curves.

The interior is also simple but well designed. It has an intuitive layout but doesn’t have a touchscreen. The touchscreen would make Apple Carplay and Android Auto a bit easier to use. Plus, the interior feels bigger than expected.

What’s new for the 202 CX-30?

The 2021 Mazda CX-30 has the same MSRP of $21,900. So, it doesn’t make much sense to save with a used model when you can have a brand new SUV for about the same price. It also has the same base engine, but a turbo option is on the way.

Edmunds didn’t have much new information to say about the 2021 model year. It’s basically the same. However, Apple CarPlay and AndroidAuto now come standard. It still has excellent handling with an upscale interior. Also, the complaints are still the same. The Mazda CX-30 has significant blind spots and a below-average fuel economy.
