The Brand Keys Most Patriotic Brands survey recently revealed Jeep has earned the distinction of being the archetypal American automobile brand that embodies patriotism. Jeep has established itself as a valued symbol of American pride and patriotism thanks to its long heritage, constant dedication to American ideals, and its support of military veterans.

Jeep’s legacy of resilience

Jeep’s incredible story begins during World War II, when its tough and flexible vehicles played an important role in aiding American forces. With World War II on the horizon in June of 1940, the U.S. Army solicited bids from 135 automakers for a 1/4 ton “light reconnaissance vehicle” tailored to Army specifications.

Only three companies responded—Bantam, Willys, and Ford. However, within a year, they collectively produced the template for the vehicle known worldwide as the Jeep.

Willys-Overland delivered the prototype “Quad” (named for its 4×4 system), to the U.S. Army on Armistice Day (Veteran’s Day), November of 1940. The design was completed in a remarkable 75 days.

These trusty Jeeps proved to be crucial tools, allowing soldiers to traverse hazardous terrain with unrivaled dependability. Jeeps have long been associated with freedom, valor, and the indomitable spirit of American warriors, making the Jeep a lasting emblem of strength and resolve.

Many of the vehicles that Jeep offers are manufactured in America. For example, the Jeep Gladiator is produced in Toledo, Ohio. The Toledo Assembly Complex produces the Gladiator and sometimes the Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited SUVs. For 2022, Jeep built the Grand Cherokee in the Detroit, Michigan area.

As another means of support, the brand also offers a Military Incentive Program. This program offers military bonus cash to be used toward select 2023 vehicles. Active, active reserve, retired military, retired military reserve, 100% disabled veteran and honorably discharged veterans, within 12 months of discharge date, are eligible under the program. The offer applies to purchases and leases on a range of 2023 Jeep brand vehicles.

Additionally, Jeep is donating a portion of the proceeds to military charities with every Freedom Edition sold. And if that isn’t patriotic enough, American flags are prominently positioned on doors of the new Jeep Grand Cherokee, Wrangler, and Gladiator Freedom special editions as a tribute to the Americans who design, engineer, build, and drive the vehicles.
