1969 Chevrolet Nova

Johnny Depp’s first car was an American icon: a 1969 Chevrolet Nova. The rumor is that he actually lived in his classic muscle car while he was first getting his career off the ground. Considering he maintains a collection of modern luxury cars and classics, there’s no reason to believe he’s sold his original Nova, but he hasn’t driven it in public in a while.

1959 Chevrolet Corvette

This car must have some bittersweet memories for Johnny Depp. The prequel to Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas was his pet project for years: 2011’s The Rum Diary. In this Hunter S. Thompson novel, a young journalist finds his voice while working at a newspaper in Puerto Rico. In the movie adaptation, he borrows a 1959 Chevrolet Corvette and takes the lovely Chenault (Amber Heard) for a drive. The two end up playing a tense game of chicken while speeding down an island road. It was actually the two actors’ first film together, an encounter that would lead to a brief, tumultuous marriage. After production, the filmmakers gave the car to Johnny Depp. Check out the scene in the video below:

1960 Rolls Royce-Silver Ghost

Johnny Depp drove a stylish 1960 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost in 2015’s Mortdecai. Apparently, he looked so good in it that he inspired Ewan McGregor to run out and buy an identical car. Today, Ewan McGregor takes his vintage Rolls to pick up his daughters after school–all thanks to Johnny Depp.

Perhaps Johnny Depp was inspired by his Mortdecai character. When choosing a luxury supercar, he opted for a modern Rolls-Royce. Until Rolls-Royce discontinued the Wraith, this opulent coupe built on a BMW 7-series chassis was one of the most flambuoyant ways to blow $300,000+ on a set of wheels. The bespoke car is powered by a 624 horsepower V12 and can glide down the road effortlessly at its top speed of 155 mph.

The Amphitrite

We know, this isn’t a car. But Johnny Depp renovated the ultra-luxurious yacht to his own Art Deco specifications to the tune of seven million–according to The Drive. He first named it Vajoliroja, a mash-up of his then wife’s name and his children’s names. But when he married Amber Heard he renamed the yacht Amphitrite. When he ran into financial trouble, Depp sold the yacht for a cool $28.9 million to none other than author J.K. Rowling who penned his Grindlewald character.
