Kia’s EV lineup is growing. We not only have the Niro EV, but also the EV6, which is the most expensive electric car from the brand. Why is it so expensive, and what does the base model, the cheapest trim, have to offer?

2023 Kia EV6: Price and trims

The 2023 Kia EV6 model comes in six different trim levels. First, there’s the Light version, which is a rear-wheel drive model priced at $42,600. This is the base version of the electric vehicle. Next is the Wind model, also a rear-wheel drive version. You can purchase it for $48,700. 

The Wind version also comes in an electronic all-wheel drive model, which you can get for $52,600, a difference of almost $4,000 between the two. Next up is the GT-Line rear-wheel drive version, which has a price tag of $52,900, according to Kia. 

The GT electronic all-wheel drive model is priced at $57,600. Topping the lineup is the GT version, which is an electronic all-wheel drive model. You can have this one for approximately $61,600.

The 2023 Kia EV6 offers range and power

The Light, Wind, and GT-Line rear-wheel drive models run on a single motor powering up the back wheels. The Light comes with a 58 kWh battery, which helps the model get a total output of 167 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. The battery also can charge in six hours on a level one charger and 18 minutes on a 350 kWh DC fast charger. Both Kia’s Wind and GT-Line have a 77.4 kWh battery and an output of 225 hp and 258 lb-ft. This larger battery can charge in seven hours on a level one charging unit and 18 minutes on a 350 kWh fast charger. 

The 2023 Kia EV6 Wind and GT-Line also have an e-AWD version, which has two motors running all four wheels. The GT model also has this setup. The GT-Line and the Wind dual motor versions have an output of 320 hp and 446 lb-ft of torque. Kia’s GT model, however, produces 576 hp and 545 lb-ft. 

As for driving range on the RWD vehicles, the Light model can go 232 miles, while the Wind and GT-Line can go 310 miles. When it comes to the e-AWD versions, the Wind can go 282 miles, and the GT-Line has a driving range of 252 miles. The GT model has the shortest driving range yet, with 206 miles, which is about 26 miles less than the base. 

Is the most expensive Kia EV worth the price?

With the base model, the Light, you get a decent amount of features for almost $43,000. It offers 19-inch wheels, a gloss-black front grille, rear privacy glass, a rear spoiler, and solar control glass on the exterior. 

For the interior, you get a 12.3-inch dual panoramic display with Kia Connect, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, remote start, dual-zone climate control, and five USB ports. You also get push-button start, Bluetooth connectivity, and Sirius XM satellite radio. 

When it comes to driver’s aid and safety features, you get lane-keeping assist, blind-spot detection, highway driving assist, rear parking sensors, smart cruise control, a Wi-Fi hotspot, a six-speaker system, a wireless phone charger, and a selection of Eco, Normal, Sport, and Snow driving modes. 

The Kia EV base model is relatively expensive, but you get quite a bit for your money. The other trims offer more power and driving range in some cases, but you’ll have to pay quite a bit more for them.
