Do you need to rent a car? And, more importantly, do you like Audis? If you said “yes” to both of those questions, then Silvercar is a great fit for you. Just know that renting a car from Silvercar might cost a little more than other rental agencies, but keep in mind that you are getting a more premium product to drive from the get-go. Silvercar started in 2012, and its fleet used to consist of only silver Audi A4s. Now, you have your choice of colors and can choose from an A4, Q5, A5 Cabriolet, and a Q7.

How much does it cost?

That’s technically a loaded question because the pricing and availability of the cars can vary depending on when you book a reservation. However, we found that the lowest-priced A4 model would be around $50 per day, while the highest-priced Q7 will be around $100 per day. Not terrible, considering most other rental agencies will try to upsell you to the premium categories anyway, not to mention whatever other fees they tack on.

What else does Silvercar charge for?

When playing around with the booking configurator on the website, it looks like they only charge you for added insurance. You can opt for them to cover just the car, other people and their things, or just you and your things. Opting for full coverage will add on another $57 per day. Again, considering this is a premium car you’re driving, it’s nice to have peace of mind. However, using your own insurance can save you a pretty penny especially if you’re renting for a longer period of time.

Where are they located?

As of right now, Silvercar is located in 26 different locations across the country, mainly in major airports. There are “in-town” locations as well, so you can pick up or drop off the car in a more convenient location if the airport doesn’t work. There is a delivery and pick up option available, where a Silvercar will bring the car to you, however, that’s currently only available in San Francisco and New York.

Is it worth it?

The main highlight of Silvercar is that you get drive an Audi, as opposed to a Chevy Cruze or Subaru Outback, during your trip. We would say that it’s worth it if you currently own an Audi, as they do have perks for Audi owners, or if you’re looking to purchase an Audi. In the latter case, you can use your trip as an extended test drive. Starting the rental process is easy too, just download the app or go on the website, the interface is relatively simple to use.
