The Ford F-150 is widely known as America’s best-selling full-size pickup truck and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is widely known as Germany’s luxury full-size sedan. The two couldn’t be any more different as one is made for hauling and towing duties and driving through the mud, while the other is better suited for weekend drives and daily errand duties while relaxing in the lap of luxury.

Despite the fact that comparing these two is like comparing chicken to waffles, there are some slight similarities between the two when it comes to their interiors, which made us wonder if a Ford F-150 can be as comfortable as a Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

Rough on the outside, plush on the inside

The thought of a work truck, or any truck in general, as being luxurious might seem far-fetched but if you happen to check out a Ford F-150 in the Limited, King Ranch, or Platinum trim levels, then you will be pleasantly surprised.

Apparently, Ford wanted to give the three different trim levels each their own distinct level of luxurious style as the King Ranch exudes a Southwest luxury feel, the Platinum gives off an urban luxury feel, and the Limited has a sport luxury feel. According to Ford, all three of these premium interiors are suited to match the “personality” of each truck.

And they all definitely have a personality as each interior is adorned with a full-leather treatment with contrast stitching, heated and ventilated front seats, and available massage seats. Don’t believe us? Check out this video:

As you can imagine, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class has all of those comfort features and more as it provides a super-soft luxurious ride, but the Ford F-150’s suspension isn’t all too rough, either, as long as you’re going over smooth, newly paved roads.

The size makes all the difference

Another part of the F-150’s interior that could catch unknowing passengers off guard is the sheer size and spaciousness of the truck’s cabin. Opting for the SuperCrew size cabin, which also allows seating for up to six passengers, will actually grant you more room for everyone than the S-Class’ interior will.

The proof is in the numbers as the Mercedes S-Class measures in at 39.7 inches of headroom, 41.4 inches of legroom, and 59.7 inches of shoulder room in the front seat and 37.4, 34.1, and 59.1 inches in the rear seat, respectively.

In the Ford F-150, those numbers grow slightly as the front seat measures in at 40.8 inches of headroom, 43.9 inches of legroom, and 66.7 inches of shoulder room. The rear seat is more impressive for this type of vehicle as it measures in at 40.4, 43.6, and 65.9, respectively. For those keeping score, you can see that the F-150 boasts a large amount of space in all directions as compared to the S-Class.

Just when you thought that a big truck like the F-150 can only make an S-Class look small on the outside, it turns out the truck is much larger on the inside as well.

Luxurious workmanship

In case you’re wondering why Ford would even bother to put such a nice interior in a truck, considering it would theoretically be used on a dirty job site, we would say that it makes all the sense in the world. Whether you work in construction or not, being able to drive a vehicle that can tow and haul almost anything you need it to while making you feel like you’re in the plush confines of a luxurious Mercedes-Benz is the best combination since chicken and waffles.
