Luxury SUVs are a popular choice for families who want a roomier, fancier, and better-equipped SUV than usual. There are many great luxury brands to choose from too, and Ford’s sister company, Lincoln, is one of those luxury brands. Here’s a look at the 2020 Lincoln Aviator Grand Touring trim and whether or not it’s worth its hefty price tag. 

How much does the 2020 Lincoln Aviator Grand Touring cost?

While it’s entirely possible for the Aviator Grand Touring to cost over $80,000, that’s only the case if customers choose to equip it with the fanciest options, according to MotorTrend. The Aviator Grand Touring starts at about $70,000, but Lincoln offers several equipment options that can dramatically increase the capabilities and price of the SUV. 

One of the cheaper equipment packages is called the Luxury package, and with a price tag of about $3,300, it’ll equip the Aviator Grand Touring with great features like heated and ventilated seats. However, Lincoln also offers the Equipment Group 302A package, which costs almost $15,000 and will increase the Aviator Grand Touring’s overall price to $85,000. 

That said, this package gives the already luxurious SUV even more features. For example, MotorTrend noted that this package would have a massive 28-speaker premium stereo system, among other things. 

The many capabilities of the 2020 Lincoln Aviator Grand Touring 

The main thing that separates the Grand Touring trim from the regular Aviator is the fact that the Grand Touring trim has a hybrid engine as standard. MotorTrend wrote that the Aviator Grand Touring comes standard with a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 and a 75-kW electric motor. The motor is hooked up to a 13.6-kWh battery, and this hybrid engine gets about 494 hp and 630 lb-ft of torque. 

Those impressive figures allow the SUV to get a 0 to 60 MPH time of just 5.5 seconds, which is relatively fast for a car of its size. On top of that, thanks to the fact that it’s a PHEV, it can go on battery-only mode. On battery-only mode, the Aviator Grand Touring has a 21-mile range, but unlike other hybrids, MotorTrend said that it could get up to high speeds while on battery-only mode.

Overall, this hybrid system allows it to get an impressive combined 56 MPGe. Additionally, MotorTrend said that the Aviator Grand Touring was capable in other ways, too. Not only did it feel comfortable to drive, but it could also tow up to 5,600-pounds of cargo. And of course, since it’s a mid-size luxury SUV with third-row seating, it can seat seven people comfortably.

Is the 2020 Lincoln Aviator Grand Touring worth it?

There are many considerations that customers will have to make before committing to buying a car, and for some customers, the 2020 Aviator Grand Touring fits the bill to the letter. That said, for many others, there are many reasons why they might go for something else.

For example, MotorTrend wrote that, while the hybrid engine made it very fuel-efficient, it also has a few issues. One of the most annoying problems is that it could be challenging to find a place to recharge your Aviator Grand Touring’s battery due to there being no vehicle-charging standards. Plus, while the Aviator Grand Touring is comfortable, its third-row seats are less spacious than its other two rows.

Like Lincoln’s Navigator, a larger SUV would solve that problem, and it wouldn’t cost that much more since the Navigator starts at over $76,000. So overall, while the Aviator Grand Touring is worth it, not all customers need or want what it offers.
