Do the doors come off?

One of the defining differences between the Ford Bronco Sport and its beefier Bronco counterparts that the doors are not removable for the Sport. This is undeniably more safe than any doorless vehicle. So in this respect, we can definitely say that the Ford Bronco Sport is a safe SUV.

However, what if we remove that fact from the equation? Does the Sport enjoy a host of standard safety features or is it left to fend for itself? In terms of standard safety, it seems most automakers are in a competition to see who has the better standard safety suite.

And Ford is not different. Since the 2018 addition of the Co-Pilot 360, Ford has been one of the frontrunners in the safety feature competition. For the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport safety features we see a nice list of modern necessities. According to Consumer Reports, the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport standard safety features include the Co-Pilot 360 bundle. That means you’ll see “forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind spot warning, rear cross traffic warning, lane keeping assistance, and automatic high beams.”

Other Bronco Sport standard safety features are airbags that are part of what Ford calls a “personal safety system.” Additionally, there is a standard dual stage airbag system for the driver and front row passenger. Also there is a driver knee airbag, front seat-mounted side-impact airbags, and what Ford calls a “safety canopy.” This includes side curtain and roll over sensor to keep both front and rear passengers safe.

You’ll also find other 2021 Ford Bronco Sport standardize safety features to include a crash alert system, the LATCH system for child safety seats, TPMS, and seat-belt reminder. However, you don’t get a full-size spare tire with the matching wheel as you do in the big Bronco. The 2021 Ford Bronco Sport comes standard with a mini spare.

Standard safety features vary by trim

One interesting and notable safety feature for the Bronco sport is the way they vary from trim to trim. Just like most of today’s other new cars and SUVs, the higher trim levels come with a bit more in terms of standard safety. For example, the Badlands trim adds signature lighting and 180-degree camera up front with split view and a washer.

Overall, the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport standard safety features seem pretty good. We do believe, however, that there will be new ones as more model years are produced. We wouldn’t mind seeing standard adaptive cruise control, that’s for sure.
