Jeep is going all out to celebrate its 80th birthday with a lineup of special-edition anniversary models that will be available to dealers in late 2020. The Jeep Wrangler debuted in 1986, replacing the Jeep CJ-7. This model sought to fuse off-road capability with on-road comfort. While the 2021 Jeep Wrangler doesn’t have square headlights as the original model did, it still assumes the same classic design.

What’s included?

Jeep’s latest press release details the specifics of the 2021 Jeep Wrangler 80th Anniversary Edition. This trim of the iconic 4×4 SUV is available in an exclusive Granite Crystal finish twitch matching 18-inch wheels. Shoppers can otherwise opt for Bright White, Black, Firecracker Red, Hella Yella, Snazzberry, Sting Gray, or Sarge Green paint.

The grille bezels, headlight rings, and fog lamp bezels all feature a Neutral Grey Metallic color, and the fender flares are body-colored. The vehicle also dons commemorative badging that’ll help this special edition Wrangler stand out.

The SUV’s interior is home to black diamond embossed cloth seats and Light Tungsten interior accents. These primary colors are complimented by Anodized Gunmetal dash mid-bolsters and 80th Anniversary tags throughout.

This trim level also has an assortment of premium tech features. These include remote start, an 8.4-inch infotainment touchscreen display, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and satellite radio.

The 80th Anniversary trim is available on two-door models at a starting MSRP of $37,485 and four-door models at $40,985. 

What else is new for the 2021 model year?

The new Wrangler introduces several upgrades that’ll make drivers consider getting into a 2021 model – even if the special edition doesn’t pique their interest.

Jeep’s new front-facing TrailCam is being added to the Wrangler. This new feature gives drivers the ability to check treacherous terrain up ahead via the touchscreen while driving off road.

Meanwhile, the Wrangler Rubicon received an update as Off-Road Plus is now standard. This feature allows for adjustments to the throttle, transmission shifts, and traction control for an enhanced driving experience. Finally, Jeep added two extra charging-only USB ports.

Why the 2021 Jeep Wrangler 80th Anniversary Edition is worth purchasing

This special-edition Wrangler doesn’t feature any exclusive equipment. However, its unique styling and badging may make it worth the investment in the long run. 

The Wrangler won’t celebrate its 40th birthday until 2026, so hardcore fans will likely have to wait until then (or 2030 for Jeep’s 90th birthday) to get another anniversary edition. Jeep Wranglers already hold value well, so a special edition like this may add even more desirability to collectors in the future.

Those uninterested in the 2021 Jeep Wrangler 80th Anniversary Edition’s distinct styling will do well to stick with a different trim level. The slightly higher priced Rubicon model offers more off-road capability options and interior luxuries.
