The new Electric Chevy Bolt has arrived with a shocking price. Sorry for that terrible pun, but in all seriousness, the 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV arrived with a price that’s higher than expected. So, what’s new and is it worth buying?

How much does the 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV cost?

The 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV has an MSRP of about $33,995. But according to Market Watch, sales will start toward the end of the summer with a small number of early models that are priced at bout $43,495.

For that amount of cash, you can get the 2021 Mustang Mach-E, which beings around $42,895. So, can the new Chevy Bolt match the Mustang EV in terms of muscle, range, and quality? It is a four-door hatchback like the Mach-E.

We know these prices are high, but the Bolt managed to shave $5,000 off its price. Also, rivals are somewhat expensive. The Nissan Leaf begins at around $34,040, and the Hyundai Ioniq Electric starts at about $40,275.

Is the Chevy Bolt worth buying?

Maybe. It now has with a sharper egg shape. It sits narrow and tall, like a Fiat 500. This shape wasn’t exactly popular when it first emerged, but maybe it has new features to make the quirky look seem futuristic instead.

On a positive note, the 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV offers more range at a lower price than its rivals. It has a range of 259 miles on a single charge thanks to its 65-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The Nissan Leaf only provides 149 miles of range, and the Hyundai Ioniq tops out at 179 miles of range.

According to Motor Trend, Chevrolet will also cover the standard installation of Level 2 charging capability in the homes of eligible customers that lease or buy the 2022 Bolt. We aren’t sure how you become eligible for that, but heck having a charger at home sounds nice.

A new Dual Level Charge Cord is available on the Bolt too. It can quickly adapt between 110-volt standard household outlets and 240-volt outlets for Level 2 charging at up to 7.2-kW. DC fast charging is also included, and the Chevy Bolt can gain 100 miles of range in only 30 minutes.

What’s new for the 2022 Bolt?

The 2022 Chevy Bolt EV just got a new interior that includes a 10.2-inch touchscreen and an 8-inch digital display cluster. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included. Plus, according to CNET, a wireless charging pad comes standard.

Also, the Bolt has a longer body that provides an extra 3-inches of legroom to improve comfort for adults in the rear seats. There are 16.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats with up to 56.5 cubic feet total, and the seats fold flat.

The flat-bottom steering wheel, bucket seats with contrasting stitching, console-mounted push-button starter provide a sporty feel and look. The regen-on-demand paddle and one-pedal driving button provide maximum regenerative braking for improved efficiency.

There is only one propulsion system offered: a single-motor drive unit with 200 hp and 266 lb-ft torque. This is the same system that the Bolt EV has. Also, there is no all-wheel drive, so that’s a bummer. The Bolt EUV has an older design, too, meaning it doesn’t have the new GM Ultium battery system.

Other than that, things like lane-keeping assist and automatic high-beams are standard. You can add more optional features such as the Super Cruise hands-free tech, rear-cross, traffic alert, and 360-degree camera. At the end of the day, the price seems fair.
