The Hyundai Tucson is back with a brand new look and attitude. You can also get the 2022 Hyundai Tucson PHEV and N Line now. But is the Tucson Plug-in Hybrid worth considering over the base model? 

Is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson PHEV worth buying? 

Maybe! The 2022 Hyundai Tucson PHEV is expected to begin at around $30,235 to $35,5000. The base model starts at about $26,135. So, it could only cost about $4,000 more to get the Tucson Plug-in Hybrid instead of the regular gas-powered model. That’s not bad at all. The Toyota RAV4 Prime starts around $39,220. 

When you upgrade to the PHEV model, you get all-wheel drive, which is an excellent perk if you live in areas with inclement weather. You also get about 32 miles of range, according to The Car Connection. 

The gas-powered model gets an EPA estimated 26 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. With the PHEV, you should get about 70 MPGe when the gas kicks in. This falls a bit short of the Toyota RAV4’s 42-mile eclectic range. 

The Tucson PHEV will be powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and will have a 13.8-kWh battery pack. It supports Lever 2 charging up to 7.2 kW and is more geared toward overnight charging at home. 

What about the Hyundai Tucson N-Line? 

We won’t know more about the 2022 Hyundai Tucson PHEV until later in the year. It’s expected to be available this summer. The Hyundai Tucson N-Line is another unique model that’s on the way. 

The N-Line model sport a more aggressive grille and redesigned bumper to support the larger central air intake. It also has a silver skid plate, dual exhaust, N-Line specific 19-inch wheels, and more. The interior has leather trim with red accent stitching, supportive bucket seats, a black headliner, metal pedals, and Hyundai N door sill plates. 

Hopefully, the Tucson N-Line will have the turbocharged 2.5-liter engine that pumps out 290 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque like the Sonata has. But information about its power and price hasn’t been released. 

What’s new for the 2022 Hyundai Tucson? 

The Hyundai Tucson will be a little bigger, thanks to a slight wheelbase increase. However, the 2022 Hyundai Tucson PHEV may be a little smaller due to the placement of the battery pack. There are 38.7 cubic feet of cargo room behind the rear seat with up to 73.8 cubic feet total. 

An 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto comes standard. It can also connect two Bluetooth devices at the same time. Also, you can upgrade to the larger 10.3-inch display. But be warned, there are no physical buttons. 

The interior seems to have a more luxurious and comfortable finish. It looks like it has been crafted with more quality materials. But we will have to sit in it to know exactly how nice it is. The New snow mode may enhance its capability, and it can tow up to 2,000 pounds. 

Standard safety features include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assistance. Optional features include adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assistance.
