It’s a bird, it’s a plane….no, wait! It’s the new Ford Bronco prototype catching some serious air! Just when all the hype seemed to settle a little bit, Ford is back to tease us with a more powerful Ford Bronco model that’s in the works. It could be known as the Ford Bronco Warthog.

A wild new Ford Bronco is on the way

Does the 2021 Ford Bronco have enough power to jump sandy dunes in the desert for you? If not, if you wait a little longer, then you could get your hands on a beefier model.

Ford teased fans with a photo of a new Ford Bronco prototype catching some air. It looks like this SUV can fly high and run over sand at high speeds like a dune buggy.

However, that’s all the information that Ford released about this new Bronco hidden under camouflage. But we can speculate that it’s a model that’s ready to take on the Baja 1000, as Ford hopes to win the truck race.

The new Baja racer prototype could revive the old Warthog name or be called the Ford Bronco Raptor that fans desperately want. Ford filed a trademark application to use the Warthog name on a vehicle recently on September 9th, but we don’t know which vehicle.

But the Baja race will begin on Monday, November 16th, so we don’t have to wait much longer to see what this new flying Ford Bronco can do. Maybe it will finish the race this time instead of having to be towed off the course.

Which 2021 Ford Bronco is the most powerful?

Currently, the most powerful 2021 Ford Bronco model is a four-door model with the 2.7-liter turbo-6 engine that pumps out 310 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The Ford Bronco Warthog or Raptor could benefit from the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that provides over 400 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque. Or a 3,0-liter twin-turbo V6 with about 400 hp could be in the mix, according to MotorAuthority.

Notice in the photo posted by Ford that the prototype has a more robust long-travel suspension. That could increase the Bronco’s ability to fly over bumps and other obstacles.

However, it’s unclear if the setup is using Fox electronic shocks, like the Ford Raptor. Also, the Ford Bronco prototype could be sporting BFGoodrich KO2 all-terrain 35-inch tires.

The Ford Bronco Baja Racer-R failed to finish the Baja 1000 due to aftermarket cooling fan issues. The parts were failing to adequately cool the Bronco down, making it too risky to finish the race. So, hopefully, this issue has been addressed.

What is a Ford Warthog?

If you’ve got a video game nerd in your life, they will be excited because the Warthog is an incredibly fun and useful war vehicle in the Halo series. But in Ford history, the Warthog was the A-10 Warthog plane. It had a massive 33mm cannon

Knowing this information provides context for the possible Ford Bronco Warthog name. It’s a battle-ready, tough vehicle that can fly. It also differentiates the Ford Raptor truck from the SUV lineup. As long as the Warthog name isn’t given to the tiny unibody Ford Maverick truck, we will be pretty excited.
