The Ford Edge VS. The Chevy Traverse 

The Ford Edge only seats up to five passengers and starts around $31k, making it a more expensive option for a midsize SUV. 

The Chevy Traverse is a full-size SUV that can seat up to seven or eight passengers. It starts around $29k. So, with the Traverse, you save $2k and gain extra seats. 

However, you don’t save on fuel. The Chevy Traverse only gets up to 18 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. It needs to get at least 30 mpg on the highway to compete with other three-row SUVs. 

The Ford Edge gets up to 21 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. This fuel economy puts it behind other SUV options like the Jeep Renegade. 

Ford Edge And Chevy Traverse Power 

The Ford Edge has two engine options. The 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine provides up to 250 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. 

The 2.7-liter V6 engine pumps out 335 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque. Depending on which build you choose, the Ford Edge can tow between 1,500 to 3,500 lb. 

With the 2.7-liter V6, the Ford Edge can go from 0 to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds, making it a very quick SUV. 

The Chevy Traverse is equipped with a 3,6-liter V6 engine with 310 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. The Traverse can tow up to 5,000 lb. 

But it’s a bit slower than the Edge and takes 6.9 seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph. On a positive note, this is faster than other SUVs with three rows. 

Both of these SUVs are available in front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. So, go with the AWD option if you have slippery conditions to face or want some off-roading power. 

The Chevy Traverse has rocker rails, high guidance and view, traction modes, and electronic stability control for off-roading. 

Meanwhile, the Ford Edge has hill-start control, traction control, torque vectoring control, curve control, roll stability control, plus an independent front and rear suspension. 

Ford Edge And Chevy Traverse Features 

The Ford Edge has the most driver assistance features in its class. It has parking assist feature, can connect the WYZE navigation, can connect to Alexa for voice commands, ford collision prevention, and more. 

However, the Chevy Traverse has a more comfortable interior. It has noise-canceling technology for a quiet cab, heated seats in the front row, and a dual-zone climate system for driver and passenger comfort. 

But the Traverse doesn’t offer the safety technology like the Ford Edge does. 

So, go with the Ford Edge for more tech, a faster ride, enhanced safety, and more off-roading capability. Go with the Chevy Traverse if you need extra space or to haul a heavier trailer.
