Is the Ford F-250 Roush Worth the Extra Cash?
ROUSH, there it is! The Ford F-250 and F-350 models can now be upgraded with the Roush Performance package. If you need your Ford Super Duty Lariat to be a more capable off-roading truck, then consider going with the Roush upgrade.
The 2021 Ford F-250 Roush upgrade adds more power
Chances are that you went with the Ford F-250/350 because you already needed more power than the F-150 has to offer. But now, according to Torque News, the Ford Raptor is available for the Super Duty trucks. Still, there is little incentive to upgrade when cheaper performance packages like the Roush are available.
Once installed, the Super Duty F series trucks are ready to tackle the great outdoors. Along with a unique style that includes a ROUSH grille, you get tons of off-road equipment upgrades. You get a high-performance coil-over Fox 2.0 Performance Suspension system that improves handling by leveling the truck.
You also get 20-inch wheels with 35-inch General Grabber A/TX tires for an improved performance both on and off the pavement.
The Roush performance front brake package, upgraded slotted rotors and pads, a dual-tip performance DPF-back exhaust system, dual-LED light bars, and Roush R puddle lamps are included as well. Of course, various graphics are included to show off what ya got.
With the interior, you get some pretty nice upgrades, too, including WeatherTech floor liners, premium leather seats with branded headrests, Roush key fobs, a serialized gauge cluster, and a secure steel console vault for storing valuables.
The Roush off-road utility kit also includes high-quality jumper cables, tow straps, tow hooks, ratchet tie-down straps, a branded flashlight, and gloves.
But how much is the Ford Roush Lariat Package?
The Roush package costs about $14,000, so it takes a pretty penny to upgrade. The 2021 F-250 starts at about $34,230, and the F-350 begins at about $35,745. For 2023, the Roush package costs $13,800 to add and includes the same upgrades as the 2021 package.
Also, the Roush package can added to any powertrain. We recommend going with the 6.7-liter Turbo-Diesel V8 engine, which pumps out 475 hp and 1,050 lb-ft of torque.
With the diesel engine raising the starting price to about $44,725, you’re looking at about $58,725 to go Roush. This is a pretty good price for a massive off-roading truck with plenty of muscle to get work done. The Ford Raptor package for the F-250 costs about $28,000.
With the diesel engine and when properly equipped, the F-150 can tow up to 20,000 lb, and the F-350 can tow up to 32,000 lb when configured for fifth-wheel/gooseneck towing. The standard 6.2-liter gas-powered V8 engine pumps out 430 lb-ft of torque. So, the diesel engine is a lot more capable.
Is the F-250 a good truck?
Yes, the 2021 Ford F-250 is a good truck. It’s praised for having massive towing and torque figures and tons of tech features to make working easier.
For 2021 the F-250 gained an XL Power Equipment package that includes trailer-tow mirrors with heated glass and manually adjustable folding and telescoping functions. Plus, each model can now be equipped with a bed step.
The biggest complaints include that the F-250 can be clumsy at highway speeds, but the interior mutes wind and road noise pretty well. Plus, the interior feels a little cheap when compared to Ram. However, moving up in trim levels provides nicer interior materials.
