Holy smokes, the pricing for the 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe was just released. It’s pretty shocking, no pun intended. But it is one of the most powerful Jeep models available. The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 has it beat with a V8 engine. But let’s see what’s included in the price.
How much does the 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe cost?
According to AutoBlog, the 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe will begin at around $50,000. If you were drinking something while you read that, then you may have spit out your drink. At first, this feels pretty expensive for a plug-in hybrid SUV.
However, Jeep is only launching the PHEV Wrangler with the Sahara and Rubicon trims with four-doors. These are the most expensive Jeep trim levels that offer tons of luxury and extra off-roading goodies.
The gas-powered Jeep Wrangler Sahara begins around $40,160, including the destination fee. The Sahara 4xe begins around $47,995 with a $1,495 destination fee, bringing the total to about $49,490.
So, to upgrade to the 4xe, it’s roughly $9,000. Also, the gas-powered Rubicon begins around $43,719, and the Rubicon 4xe begins around $53,190. But the hybrid prices are both before possible tax credits have been included.
What comes with the Wrangler 4xe?
If you spring for the Sahara Wrangler 4xe, you get a leather interior, 20-inch wheels, an 8.4-inch Unconnect infotainment center with navigation included, an Alpine premium audio system, the LED lighting package, and Selec-Trac 4WD with Dana 44 HD axles. You get the same features as listed above with the Rubicon 4xe. You also get the 4:1 Rock-Trac heavy-duty full-time 4WD system.
With the Wrangler 4xe, you get a 2.0 turbocharged four-cylinder engine that is paired with a transmission-mounted electric motor and an eTorque starter-generator. It has a combined output of 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque.
The most powerful Jeep Wrangler gas-powered engine is currently the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine with 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. So, the hybrid does beef things up quite a bit. When the V8 Rubicon 392 comes out, it will have a 6.4-liter 470 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque.
Also, the 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe is the most fuel-efficient Jeep ever. It has a 17-kWh, liquid-cooled battery pack that allows it to go up to 25 miles on electric power alone.
With combined driving, it can achieve an estimated 50 mpg-e and has a manufacturer estimated 400-mile range. The gas-powered Jeep Wrangler gets an EPA estimated 22 mpg in the city and up to 29 mpg on the highway.
