So far, the 2021 Ram 1500 seems to be carrying over a majority of features from the previous model, except for when it comes to tech. The Ram 1500 is receiving significant tech updates that feel similar to the features that the Ford F-150 already has.
Is the Ram 1500 borrowing tech from the Ford F-150?
Reviewing this video by Pickup Talk Plus SUV Talk will help you gauge if you would like to buy the 2020 Ram 1500 or the new 2021 model with all of its new technology features that are coming.
As to what to expect with the Ram 1500 is broken down, we will be comparing it to tech that’s already available on other trucks like the Ford F-150. You may not have to wait for the smarter 2021 Ram 1500 if another truck already has all of the modern updates that you want.
2021 Ram 1500 camera assistance
The first key piece of new technology involves multiple cameras around the Ram 1500. The cameras on the side mirrors suggest that the 2021 Ram 1500 will have a 360-degree camera view like the Ford F-150 already has.
The 2020 Ford F-150 uses four cameras to create a bird’s eye view to see all around your truck, helping you to navigate through tight areas. The four angles are stitched together to create a split-view display. The Ram 1500 infotainment center can already generate a split-view, so maybe this was to prepare for the upcoming camera views.

Another camera was spotted on the Ram 1500 prototype in the truck bed to keep an eye on your cargo. This is another camera feature that the Ford F-150 already has. This camera also assists with hooking up to your 5th wheel or gooseneck trailer hitch.
2021 Ram 1500 trailering assistance
Another update that is rumored to come out includes trailer assistance. The clues come from the new Ram 1500 TRX, which has trailer steering in the logo. This is similar to the Pro Trailer Backup Assist that the Ford F-150 already has.
It’s basically a system that helps you backup your trailer in the right direction. Those who don’t use a trailer very often could find this feature to be beneficial. Also, those who hitch up almost daily can use the system to hitch up with more convenience.
You use a knob to help direct which way you want your trailer to go. Backing up can be complicated. For example, you go left for your trailer to go right, so this system will help make sure your trailer goes in the direction you want.
2021 Ram 1500 Uconnect 5
The 2021 Ram 1500 might also come out with Uconnect 5 to update the infotainment center. This will compete with Ford Sync 4. You can expect a microphone for voice recognition, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, like Ford Sync 4 already provides.
Unconnect 5 offers six different user profiles with the ability to place quick touch buttons where you want too. You can also customize five different screens to fit your individual truck needs. It will be interesting to see how the two systems compare.
