Sometimes in a big truck, you just want to ride in style. That’s why luxurious options focused on comfort and craftmanship exist. The Ram 1500 Laramie, for example, is the street version of the Ram 1500 that’s designed to have a high-quality look. But is the Ram Laramie an upgrade?

A Look At The Ram 1500 Laramie 

If you want to have a Ram truck with the taste of luxury, you can drive away in a new 2020 Laramie for about $40k. That means you can get a luxury edition truck for under $50k, which is pretty surprising.

The base model of the Ram 1500 starts around $32k. So, for an extra $8k or so, do you really want the street edition of this truck? 

Also, to our surprise, the Ram 1500 Laramie isn’t terrible on gas, like most other large trucks are. It gets an average of up to 22 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. 

Ram 1500 Laramie Power 

The Ram Laramie is offered in multiple configurations that include a Sport Edition with a performance shaped hood, a Hybrid Quad Cab, and more. 

There are also four engines to choose from. One of the two engines that caught our attention is a 3.5-liter V6 option with eTorque that produces 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. 

The next option is a 5.7-liter V8 Hemi eTorque engine that provides 295 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. Depending on which build you choose, the Ram 1500 Laramie can tow between 6,280 to 6,640 lb. 

These powerful engine options give the Laramie an exciting amount of pep. The Crew Cab option can go 0 to 60 mph in just 6.1 seconds. This is very fast for a big truck. 

Now keep in mind, the Ram Rebel is the off-roading version of the Ram 1500. But that doesn’t mean the Ram Laramie isn’t capable, even as a pretty street model. 

The Ram Laramie has a ground clearance of 8.1,” making it pretty tall for climbing over obstacles. The Ram Rebel doesn’t sit up much higher at 8.7”. 

However, the Rem Rebel is outfitted with better shocks and more towing power to get the job done off the beaten track. 

Ram 1500 Laramie Features 

Now let’s see what type of luxuries this Ram edition has to offer for your comfort and convenience. 

Enjoy a luxury, leather-wrapped steering wheel with accent stitching that matches the leather-wrapped center console, large padded seats, and shift knobs. Each seat is also ventilated and heated for comfort. 

The 12” navigation display also provides front and rear parking assistance with automatic braking to avoid accidents. 

If the windshield wipers sense rain, they’ll automatically activate. Plus, the remote-controlled tailgate is a pretty neat feature. 

We also took note of the remote-controlled side runners that can be deployed at a moment’s notice to help shorter folks climb in and out of your truck. 

At the end of the day, the Laramie is only an upgrade if you’re attracted to its looks. The two-toned painted bodies and sport performance hood set this trim option apart from the rest. Otherwise, it’s capabilities are slightly limited compared to other models.

However, if you want a truck that provides the ultimate comfort for drivers and modern tech, then this is a great money-saving option.
