Is The Range Rover Really Worth Its Outrageous Price?
The Land Rover Range Rover is a premium SUV, meaning it incorporates class and luxury into its off-roading capabilities. But for this class and luxury, you will need to pay a pretty penny.
Is your wallet scared to make a move on one of these expensive vehicles? If you aren’t sure, we can go over what’s included with the high price tag to help you make a decision.
What Is Included With The Range Rover?
To roll off the lot in your own 2020 Land Rover Range Rover, be prepared to spend about $90k. However, this is only the price of the base model. Higher trim options will quickly have you spending over $100k and even over $200k for the SV Autobiography edition.
At prices this high, we hope that the Range Rover can manage to wow us because other vehicles can get you from point A to B for around $23k or less.
However, the Range Rover doesn’t have a fantastic fuel economy. It only gets up to 22 mpg in the city and up to 28 mpg on the highway.
But we suppose if you have $90k for an SUV, then fuel prices probably aren’t too concerning. Plus, this hybrid SUV can go up to 22 miles before gas kicks in.
Land Rover Range Rover Power
There are four engine options for the 2020 Range Rover. The base option is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 246 horsepower. That seems slightly weak for its price tag.
You can also choose the 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine, and the highest trim option comes with a 5.0-liter V8 supercharger engine. The V8 produces 585 horsepower and 461 lb-ft of torque.
The V8 comes with a significant increase of power, but keep in mind that this engine option will raise the price even more.
Depending on which set up you choose, the Range Rover can tow between 5,511 to 7,716 lb. So, this isn’t the best for hauling huge boats and campers but can get the job done.
The base model can go from 0 to 60 mph in a sluggish 6.9 seconds, while the V8 model can go from 0 to 60 in 4.9 seconds. We would like to give the V8 a spin.
Also, the Range Rover is equipped to dominate any terrain with a wading depth of 35.4 inches, 34.7-degree approach angle, and 29.6-degree departure angle.
Range Rover Features
If you’re paying $90k, then you better receive a smooth and comfortable ride. It’s had the same exterior look since 2014, but the interior did receive some updates to improve the 2020 model.
For example, the large leather seats now have extra padding, and the back row can recline further. The rear seat also has a power-folding option, so you don’t have to bother with folding it down yourself.
The four-zone climate control ensures that all of your passengers remain comfortable with ambient lighting and a sound design to promote relaxation.
We aren’t too impressed with the 10” infotainment center, but the Heads Up Display that presents crucial information on the windshield is neat.
Overall, the Range Rover is a bit of a letdown. For such a big price tag, it should have some fantastic features. Sure, it can go off-roading, but so can Jeeps for a fraction of the price.
