The short answer is yes. The redesigned 2021 Honda Ridgeline compact pickup truck retains its unibody construction. With underpinnings shared with the likes of the Honda Odyssey and Honda Pilot, the new Honda Ridgeline is still a smooth city truck with an all-new design making it look tougher before.

Is the 2021 Honda Ridgeline a new truck?

The 2021 Honda Ridgeline is “reimagined,” according to the email I received from Honda PR. It’s a new version of the acclaimed Honda Ridgeline. Unsurprisingly, the engineers at Honda have given the all-new redesigned Ridgeline some upgraded features. It’s still a unibody pickup truck so it’s a great smooth ride. And now it looks gnarlier with black cladding and a new shape––and offers some great new packages.

According to the Honda press release, the redesigned Ridgeline boasts an “aggressive new exterior.” Each redesigned Honda Ridgeline model comes equipped with Honda’s i-VTM4 all-wheel drive (AWD) system as standard equipment. Plus, the new Ridgeline’s 5,000-pound towing capacity doesn’t suffer from the addition of standard AWD.

The all-new redesigned Ridgeline is now on sale at Honda dealers. The starting price is advertised as an MSRP of $36,490. While this is no cheap truck, it does come with a host of standard features and the standard AWD system across every model.

Honda Performance Development

It’s common knowledge that Honda doesn’t just make cars. This is a machine manufacturing company. You can get anything from generators to dirt bikes, to the Honda Odyssey minivan to the Civic Type R.

Now, the redesigned 2021 Honda Ridgeline compact pickup truck offers a brand new package. In combination with the Honda Performance Development (HPD), the all-new Ridgeline boasts an available package that adds some additional styling and features. Namely, these features include a “unique grille treatment” in addition to HPD graphics and bronze-colored wheels.

Is the Ridgeline a unibody pickup truck?

Since its release, the Honda Ridgeline has been a unibody pickup truck. Part of the Ridgeline’s configuration that sets it apart from the rest of the compact pickup pack is its unibody construction. This allows the Ridgeline to provide a much smoother city driving performance.

One reason the Ridgeline tops lists is because it is so uniquely a fantastic daily driver. The redesigned 2021 Honda Ridgeline compact pickup truck is an updated model with a versatile unibody platform. While its being a unibody pickup truck does hinder its towing capacity, it allows for all the luxuries and upgraded tech from other models in the lineup like the Honda Odyssey or the Honda Pilot.

New style

One fact is obvious. The redesigned 2021 Honda Ridgeline looks more truck-like and aggressive. It’s almost as if the designers wanted to blend the boxy look of an old school model with the curvy style of the more recent units. We think it’s an improvement. The all-new Ridgeline looks better than ever with a couple of Honda dirt bikes in the bed.
