Also, prepare to pay more for gas. Maybe part of paying tribute to previous models includes terrible fuel efficiency. The 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser only gets up to 13 mph in the city and 17 mpg on the highway.

However, the poor fuel economy may be because the Toyota Land Cruiser is built to last. It has thicker, heavier metal to withstand extreme conditions. It has a reputation for being bulletproof, lasting forever, and for being the perfect post-apocalyptic SUV.

The Toyota Land Cruiser has to deliver on two promises to be worth it.
- Off-roading power.
- A luxurious, comfortable ride.
The 2020 Land Cruiser comes with a 5.7-liter V8 engine. It’s a DOHC 32-valve engine that provides 381 horsepower and 401 lb-ft of torque. Dual independent valve timing and the acoustic control induction system help utilize maxim power. That’s the technical way to say it’s a beast.
The Land Cruiser can tow up to 8,100 lb, so go ahead, tow your boat. It can also accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 6.8 seconds, which is excellent for a massive, three-row SUV. For off-roading, the Land Cruiser has a kinetic suspension that automatically disconnects the sway bar and adjusts the system for better wheel articulation.
You also get skid-plates, a limited-slip differential, multi-terrain select modes for driving in sand, mud, and more, plus crawl control. The multi-terrain monitor also provides multiple camera views, allowing you to see exactly where your tires are going.

According to Edmund’s, the 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser lacks in tech with limited smartphone connectivity. It has a 4.1″ multi-cluster display instead of a heads up display, but it can still display your texts and navigation instructions. You get wireless charging for your smartphone too.
In terms of comfort, you get a four-zone automatic climate control system. So, your family should never complain about being too hot or cold again. Also, the seats are heated, ventilated, and include lumbar support.
The keyless entry system allows you to keep your keys in your pocket as you approach the vehicle. Plus, the power liftgate simplifies loading and unloading the back.
However, according to Edmund’s, the third row is cramped, and cargo space is limited. There are only 81 cubic feet of cargo space with the seats folded flat.
The 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser comes with all of the safety features, including parking assistance, smart stop technology, blind-spot monitoring, rear-cross traffic alert, and more. However, we aren’t convinced that it’s worth $85k.
Do you really need a four-zone climate control system? Would you be better off in a Sequoia or Suburban instead? You would save thousands with another off-roading option for the family. However, if you want a vehicle to last forever, the Toyota Land Cruiser is a solid option.
