Honda is known for two things: reliability, and affordability. With their range of cars, trucks, and SUVs, you can depend on getting a great deal on a vehicle that is going to last, and you don’t expect to be paying a premium. What you might not expect, however, is that Honda has a minivan option priced at almost $50,000, and here is why it’s worth the money.

Enter, the Honda Odyessy Elite. You’ve probably seen plenty of Honda Odyssey minivans on the road, at your local grocery store, or cruising down the highway. While you probably didn’t bat an eye, you probably didn’t realize that one of the trim levels is actually worth as much as some new sports cars, and has an MSRP of $47,420.

The Odyssey Elite

It doesn’t look much different than every other Honda Odyssey, in fact, you probably couldn’t tell that it was any different from the base model by just appearances alone. It does have LED daytime running lights matched with LED headlights that make it stand out from older generations. It has 19-inch wheels that make the minivan look rather sporty, and it’s a surprising addition considering they are larger than most minivan wheels, or some minivans that have hubcaps.

The Honda Odyssey Elite has an extensive amount of technological safety features. This includes lane-keep assistance with lane departure warnings, rear parking sensors, and rearview camera, forward collision warning, and automatic braking. Really, this minivan has all of the cool tech features you wouldn’t necessarily expect from a Honda minivan.

Another cool feature of the Odyssey Elite is that the rear doors that slide open and shut can do so with the touch of a button. The key fob has a button that controls the back doors on either side of the car. Buttons to the side of the steering wheel allow the driver to control these doors as well, letting them slide shut with the simple push of a button. Pulling the internal or external handles of the rear doors once also signals the doors to slide open on their own, no more having to drag the door back and forth. Backseat passengers also have a button they can use to open the doors without even touching the handle.

The dashboard of the Odyssey Elite is sporty, with a bright digital gauge cluster. A large touch-screen infotainment system is mounted to the center of the dashboard and while the dashboard is simple and boring, it has clean lines but there is some interior ambient lighting that you also wouldn’t expect from a minivan.

From the infotainment system, you can also access the in-car camera, that allows you to keep an eye on kids in the back seat, much in the way that old flip-down mirrors attempt to do. The camera can be adjusted to focus on the second or third row of seating with surprising clarity. The Odyssey Elite is a truly family-oriented vehicle that is worth the high price tag.
